Adam Shankman had a better weekend than you did

On Thursday Disney premiered its big holiday release, the family adventure comedy Bedtime Stories. Initially the idea sounded like a somewhat neutered Neverending Story/Princess Bride/Baron Munchausen mashup and wasn't really that interesting to me (Adam Sandler's playing the lead role didn't help), but from the looks of the premiere pics it might be more fun than I had expected.

For one, the supporting cast features everyone from Lucy Lawless (Xena!) to Guy Pearce to Aisha Tyler (former Soup host and the best contestant ever on Million Dollar Password) to Russell Brand to the criminally underappreciated Keri Russell (Felicity, Waitress).

But more than anything, the guy behind all the fun is out director Adam Shankman, who is following up on the success of Hairspray with the holiday's biggest family movie. Atta Shank!
