AfterElton Briefs: "Skins" coming Stateside, Barrowman takes the cheese, and more!

In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • Fans of randy British teen dramas rejoice! Skins, a beloved (and racy!) nighttime soap featuring Mitch Hewer as gay teen Maxxie, will premiere on BBC America in August.
  • John Barrowman took second place as Britain's cheesiest celebrity, barely nosing out Graham Norton but losing to former EastEnders star Shane Richie. The contest was run by a cheese company who should probably put themselves on the list next year for devising such a pungent promotion.
  • And speaking of Barrowman, could he be on the list of Doctor Who companions who might be killed off (if you listen to rumors) in this weekend's big finale?
Shortlister T.R. Knight and his fella, Mark Cornelsen

  • Gay video retailer (and porn distributor) TLA is coming under fire for making Heath Ledger's full-frontal in I'm Not There the selling point for the DVD in their catalog. On the one hand, the pickle-shot in question is certainly news to me. On the other, a dead guy's junk is a pretty trashy way to sell a DVD.

    Okay, first off, the feast of studmuffinry in this one post is going to leave me drowning in drool. (Now there's a pleasant image.)

    Neil's a pretty tall man, so I knew you weren't alluding to their stature. I'll be happy to see him and T.R. make the cut, and I think  their chances are actually pretty good.

    Cheyenne's voice is as beautiful as the rest of him, but we knew that. Has he ever put out a full-length solo album?

    I can only hope they meant "cheesy" in a good way, for he who speaks ill of the Barrowman will feel the wrath of...oh forget it. I can't pull off a line that cheesy. :)

    Wow, just watched/listened to his singing with the links below.  How can one man look like such a god, and sing like such an angel?  AND he gets to be gay too!?!  Obviously God plays favorites...  [shakes fist at God and gives Him the stink eye]

    Was this blog edited after it was first posted? I could have sworn there was a link to Cheyenne Jackson singing something (which Bill S's post above would indicate) -- was that item deleted from this Briefs?

    So cool about Skins being on BBCAmerica!  I wrote them about it but never thought they'd actually listen.

    Now if we could only get Hollyoaks back on.

    Someone posted both seasons from the DVDs on Rapidshare so I got to see the whole spectacle. Both Maxxie and Tony are to die for!

    The second season gave more of Maxxie. The between-the.episodes scenes are on YouTube - especially where Maxxie meets his boyfriend and where they get clothes from boys I love the line "Is everyone gay?"

    Skins coming to North America is incredible! I lvoe the series and wrote about the option of having it Region 1 DVD and they said not likely, but with bringing it to NA, maybe there's a chance!! :D

    Also, Mitch Hewer is way, way, way too hot(And talented as a dancer) to be straight. No fair. lol =)

    Neil and TR have great choices for their Emmy nominated performances. Neil's episode choice "The Goat" was one of the best this season. I was shocked at the end of the episode. Great performance.

    Looking at the picture of TR and Mark makes me so happy TR came out. He looks so happy with Mark. He has freedom to just be.

    These pictures really don't do T.R. justice. In person he's simply scrumptious.
