Matthew Montgomery joins the Canvas
In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- Speaking of Scott Thompson, a film that we mentioned a while back that he's starring in has a new castmember: out actor Matthew Montgomery (Long-Term Relationship) has signed on as Thompson's partner in the upcoming gay movie Shifting the Canvas. Trick's JP Pitoc stars as a gay artist navigating the bohemia that is NYC's Williamsburg neighborhood.
- Gay author Augusten Burroughs has released a chapter of his new memoir, A Wolf at the Table, on his website, complete with four songs (Tegan & Sara! Ingrid Michaelson!) to help set the mood as you read. (the book streets April 29)
- Above is the first glimpse we've had of John Barrowman's hosting gig on the new UK game show The Kids Are Alright, which is kind of like Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, only with a much better title. Oh, and an openly gay host.
- The folks at Media Matters are going all-out in their campaign against Bill O'Reilly, and you can join them. Couldn't happen to a better guy.
And today's Briefs are brought to you by...
Florida native !
Levi Poulter
I believe your "Florida native" is Levi Poulter, right? Mmmm...
I didn't realize Matthew Montgomery was out. I first saw him in "Gone But Not Forgotten" and most recently in "Long-term Relationship", in which I thought he was pretty good.
John Barrowman...the FULL package!
He's got it all. Handsome and oh so sexy (so is his partner Scott Gill), great personality, so freakin' charming, good actor, singer, wonderful sense of humor, great smile etc. etc. etc...and now, game show host. Is there anything this wonderful man can't do? Doesn't seem like it. Bring it on...the more the merrier. I simply can't get enough of this man. I think I need to cool off now. Peace :)

The UK and John Barrowman
Now, please make note here. Barrowman is openly gay and openly in a same-sex civil partnership. And they have him hosting a show with kids!!!!
Can you just imagine the furor we'd have in the U.S.? Fox News would be running all-day specials about what message this would be sending to America's children. Rush Limbaugh would be ranting on his radio show. James Dobson and Focus on the Family would be firing off press releases about the immediate demise of the traditional family that would result from this. The AFA would be threatening boycotts against anyone that advertised during the show. Ann Coulter would go off like a nuclear bomb on MSNBC.
Am I alone in my awe of just how different things are between our two countries?
The UK has got it right
I totally agree with you Psionycx. The UK is sending a wonderful message which says that the world needs future generations to be much more accepting of others regardless of their sexuality (or even race for that matter) in the hopes that the world can ultimately become a better place to live in. Sadly, it doesn't look like this will happen in our lifetime.
