AfterElton Briefs: Games, cars, gay celebs, and more!

In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • A Gay Men's Chorus sang the National Anthem to open Maine's legislative body for 2008, which could mark the first time a gay group has opened a state legislature with the anthem anywhere in the country.
  • GayWheels.com has added BMW to its list of gay-friendly automakers, as the company began providing domestic partner benefits to gay employees starting January 1. Finally, you can spend ridiculous amounts of money on an overpriced status symbol without the guilt.

  • T.R. Knight paid a visit back to Broadway by attending August: Osage County and popping backstage to visit some other thesps, including fello Grey's Anatomy actor Jeff Perry (pictured above).
  • RADAR compiled an amusing assortment of gay-targeted ads ranging from subtle to risque to entirely accidental. You know, sometimes a stick-shift/burrito/hotdog/airplane is just a stick-shift/burrito/hotdog/airplane.

And today's Briefs come to you courtesy of ... someone clearly reading AfterElton.com!

This Briefs thing is almost

This Briefs thing is almost as good as Queerty's Morning Goods. Oh, and BMW is also going to start putting out cars that run on bio-diesel, so not only can you have your status symbol and appease your gay!guilt, but you can appease your environmental!guilt as well. How faboo.

Just a quick question...

What is the difference between "To make A Long Story Short" and AE briefs? 53% more pictures of cute boys? Or a more important question... Has "To make A Long Story Short" been cancelled in order to make room in your blog schedule for blog titles that get higher ratings in your key demographic of 18-34 year olds? If so was this midseason blog fastracked due to the writer strike?

It was changed partly because

To Make a Long Story Short: Then Cite Two or Three Subjects A) Didn't exactly roll off the tongue B) Was a pain to be writing all the time C) because AfterElton briefs is simply funnier. 18-34 year olds and the writers strik had nothing to do with it but that's pretty funny!

Neil and David are just the

Neil and David are just the cutest even in those loud shorts.

TR is absolutely adorable and has been dressing better lately. I've come to like his buzz cut and wish he'd keep it.

It was maybe 10-15 years ago a major Maine town voted to strike anti-discrimination laws covering gays. It's nice to see times have changed.

Obama's win was good for gays?

"Barack Obama stomped all over the competition in Iowa and blogger Rod 2.0 thinks that's good for the gays." I read the site linked and I'm not sure where they explained how an Obama win is good for gays. If anything he is probably the candidate we should be most worried about. He's proven that what he is looking for is the middle ground...the push for gay rights at this moment in history are not found in the middle ground. Our struggle involves our community and the liberal extremes of any community. In 2012 we'll have reached a time where we rely on the support of the middle ground. The born-again/evangelicals that came out in mass numbers to vote Obama and Huckadoom to 1st in Iowa are not supportive of our community. Hillary has the pro-gay voter base. That blogger says there is a tidal wave of support in the gay community towards Obama...the gay community supports Hillary 6 to 1 over every other candidate. I'm not sure who I'll be voting for yet, but I don't feel the need to bend the truth towards whomever I pick.
