Elton, Hillary, and that other guy
In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- I'm with Simon Doonan - those NYC street fairs really need to dial down the aromas a titch or three. There's nothing like going out to Blood Bath & Beyond for vacuum filters and coming home smelling like you just spent the night in a smokehouse.
- Last night our reluctant namesake, Sir Elton John, did what he does best: play music. Meanwhile, the subject of his tribute concert, Hillary Clinton, did what she does best: made bad puns with song titles. (Oh, I keed, I keed ... she's alright.)
- Soccer fans listen up: the folks behind the International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) have announced that on May 17th anti-hate events will take place in over 50 countries.
- I came across this op-ed by a gay writer for the otherwise straight Falls Church News that did a great job of summing up just why it is the Jay Leno "gayest look" gag rubbed a lot of us the wrong way: On its own, "Gay" just isn't funny anymore.
And today's Briefs are brought to you by...
Lightweight boxing champ Amir Khan!

Great concert!!
I was at the concert last night, and it was amazing. When Hillary, Chelsea and Bill took the stage we tore the house down. They talked some politics and made a beautiful introduction to Elton John. They thanked ELton and his partner David for their tireless effort towards AIDS, and for being so gracious for putting on the concert.
Elton was phenomenal. Still a great powerful voice, and the man has got to be one of the finest piano players in the world. ELton is just brilliant. He complemented the Clintons and said what great friends they have been for years. He also talked about being a foreigner, but was shocked at the misogny he's seen on TV during this election. I completely agree with him. I feel so disappointed in the media bias against Hillary and the criticism of her appearence while Barack is someone to swoon over. It's just sad.
The last song was 'I'm Still Standing' specifically for Hillary. The crowd went wild, i'm sure I suffered some hearing loss. We were 10,000+ strong Hillary supporters who dance, screamed and cheered all night. It was the best concert i've been too. Even when Hillary took the stage again at the end of the concert, she had almost lost her voice for singing along with the crowd.
I was very happy for the Clintons last night, because they came to Radio City Music Hall, and although it was only a couple of hours long, they felt real strong support and love for them. God knows everything's been so negative in the media regarding them. I think they really needed this.
The concert was meant to start at 8.00pm, and we were told to get there one hour earlier. I don't know if Radio City Music Hall was prepared, because the line stretched for blocks with us having our bags checked before we got into the building, then once inside the building, our backs were put through a scanner, we then went through a scanner and was body searched. This of course delayed the concert by one hour, and there were still hundreds of people stuck outside waitng to get in. I think Radio City Music Hall will learn from this, if you have high security guests in attendence, then don't tell the crowds to come one hour before, say two hours and have far more security checkers and scanners.
Oh, great!
I hadn't seen this commercial yet. Now I'm looking at HOURS lost in front of the television, zapping channels, to see it on TV with better video quality.
Thanks a lot, Brian. ;^)
By the way, each family is talking about a benefit from Nebacetin, and the gay dad in blue says that "Nebacetin destroys bacteria", to which the other gay dad, with the child, adds, "I hate bacteria", sounding like the grumpy one. I thought it was über cute! The tagline, at the beginning, says something along the lines of "Families change. The way they take care of each other doesn't."
"I walk with dignity. I step with pride."
