T.R. Knight and Mark Cornelsen
Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- Above, T.R. Knight and boyfriend Mark Corlensen get their Matterhorn on. More pics: Awwwwww!
- Did the NY Times unintentionally out Jason Wu in their profile of him and the dress he designed for the First Lady? And if so, is it really their fault? (Computer says "no...") And most importantly, am I going to get through this item without making a pun with "Wu"? Done. Whew. OOF!
- Okay, this video of a gay contestant introducing his fiance on Wheel of Fortune and then winning the big prize is pretty adorable. But why the hasty exit, Pat Sajak? Let's hope he was just afraid of being trampled, deafened or forced to put on a sweater.
- This article on embarrassing street and town names in Britain is way more funny than it should be, thanks in part to the founders of "Crotch Crescent, Oxford" and "Wetwang, East Yorkshire".
- Above, check out a commercial released in the UK to promote Pepsi Max that uses a tried-and-true gay bait-and-switch. I have no idea what Pepsi Max is, but after this I hope it goes the way of Crystal Pepsi.
- The Advocate has launched an "Everyday Advocate" feature that
will highlight normal Joes and Janes who are doing great work in
promoting LGBT visibility and equal rights. If you know an Everyday
Advocate, submit them for consideration.
- Curious about the young, dress-wearing shop assistant Danny Nicoletta (played by Lucas Grabeel) in Milk? Here are some fascinating photos taken by Nicoletta during and after Milk's day.

This guy!
It was a bait and switch
But regardless of his friends' reactions, he did prefer the hunk over the hottie. Seems like the joke was on them, not him.

Pepsi Commercial Ok With Me
I liked it.
Grey sweatervest friend was shocked.
Red and white striped shirt friend looked surprised but supportive.
Best thing, the cute guy gets the courage to approach the smoking hot dude and doesn't even blink at the cute bookish girl and the super hot babe.
Seems pretty gay positive to me.

Pepsi
Have to agree...
Hasty Exit
I've seen Pat Sajak scramble out of the way many times when excited well wishers storm the contestant. I wouldn't read anything more into it than self preservation..."Chuck" was taller and looked heftier than Pat.
BTW seeing it treated as 'nothing special' was...well really special!
Wheel of Fortune
Wow! I am shocked there have been several clearly gay contestants on Wheel of Fortune in the last few years, that have made it to the bonus round.
They would always introduce their boyfriends/girlfriends as close friends or some such when it was clearly not the case. It always made me wonder whether that was a Wheel of Fortune rule or if the contestants themselves decided to be discreet.
Pepsi Max
Personally, I liked the Pepsi Max commercial - I thought it was gay positive when I saw it about a week ago - guy screwed up his courage to get what he wanted, and to damn the consequences. It's bold.
Also, you probably get ready to see it during the Superbowl - somehow I was reading a story in AdAge today about Pepsi still not knowing what commercials they were airing during the The Big Game (they have 4 minutes of time purchased), but expect to devote a significant portion of it to launching Pepsi Max to men.
I had emailed Michael the Wheel of Fortune clip this morning - I thought it was cute. It actually took up a decent amount of broadcast time - from the first "Who's that that broke through security?" intro, to the fiance rushing the stage. I found it so adorably normal for WoF - I don't watch it these days, but catch the last two minutes fairly frequently as I turn to ABC for a real show. Like rogermesea said if only it were adorably normal in the world.
Seems okay to me
I liked the commercial
I have to agree with the other posters; I liked that commercial. I thought it was bold, funny and ultimately a positive portrayal, so much better than that damn snickers commercial.
The Wheel of Fortune clip was cute, and whatever the age difference, TR and Mark make and adorable couple.
I may be straight, but I'm not narrow.
Bad idea
Minority opinion tonight I guess
While I understand the other posters opinions and thoughts about the Pepsi ad, I’m going have to come out and say it that I did not care for it. I can agree that the guy is portrayed in a positive “every day Joe just like you” kind of way. I have no problems with the use of the bait and switch (used twice) before the twist ending of hitting on the hunk. Up to that point no problems, great ad Pepsi. The last seconds with the “friends” reaction is what blows it for me. Lets drag out the good old gays are ickkie factor yet again. Ok, watched it twice now. While not quite the typical homosexuality is disgusting and repulsive to straight males response, Red Stripes has this look of “I don’t know who that guy is / I’m not with him” while Glasses is left to sneer and give a strong WTF? just happened face.
While I’d give Pepsi an “A” for effort, it gets an “F” for presentation. Good idea for the most part, just poorly executed. I’m not offended by it and I’m not going to call for a boycott of Pepsi over it. Reaction is more groan, role eyes and move on.
Mark and TR
Those pics of TR and Mark are adorable!
And the age difference is not that bad. We have a gay couple here in Norway, the age difference there is 22 years, they are 19 and 41 years old. THAT is a big age difference!
Harvey Milk: You gotta give 'em hope.
Pepsi Max passes muster
afhickman
I don't understand what could possibly be objectionable here. The friends look like jerks. The women are understandably flustered. Boy meets boy. Me likee.
"The mountain has wings."
19!
The problem with the commercial was?
Sorry
Pepsi challenge
I still don't get it.
PEPSI AD
I saw this pepsi ad last sunday on gayclic.
I felt uneasy and somehow uncomfortable.
Seeing it for the second time this evening, I saw what made me uneasy : the last scene when the friends have this stunned look saying OMG another queer or WTF !!!
A nicer ending would have been a hug a la he-finally-did-it, / we-are-happy-for-him/
or we-did-it-he is -not-alone-any more.
What the message Pepsi what to convey that Pepsi MAX gives you courage to face your choices? or a drink that makes you gay!!!...
Pepsi is ..
Polite Request
Yeah hello US, apparently the AFA are protesting about the Pepsi Max ad even though its being shown in my country, not yours, which is out of their jurisdiction. Could one of you kindly point out to the stupid bastards we are not importing crazy, bigoted or 'I-Can't-Believe-It's-Not-Warren' at the moment, got plenty of our own, don't need theirs. (They are the AMERICAN Family Association are they not? Or have I got that first 'A' wrong?)
Okthankyouverymuchbighugs x
