AfterElton Briefs: "Hamlet 2"'s scene-stealing gay character, "Ugly Betty" stuntcasting, and more!

In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • Our Hamlet 2 obsession grows: there is indeed a gay character in the central cast (Rand Posin) and he's played by Skylar Astin, best known as Georg in Broadway's smash hit Spring Awakening. He's the one in pink (natch!) in front of Sexy Jesus in the above pic.
Tim Gunn and New York Governor David A. Paterson at a recent New York Times event

  • Tiim Gunn hobnobbing with the newly-sworn-in governor of New York? That can't be a bad thing.
  • What with Neil Patrick Harris, David Burtka, Michael Urie and a host of other gays and gay-faves (Spice Girls! Sylar!), the Upright Cabaret series looks like about the most fabulous thing ever.
  • Cheyenne Jackson has joined the Encores! cast of Damn Yankees, joining Will & Grace's Sean Hayes, Jane Krakowski, and Ana Gasteyer.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

Model Kristoffer Ryan!

    What's wrong with Lindsay Lohan?

Sure, she may be tabloid fodder, but she also happens to be a quite talented and gifted comedienne, as evidenced by her wonderful performances in Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. I'd rather watch Lindsay than no-talents like Britney Spears any day.

    Thrice bitten, once shy

She was a sparkling talent at one time, I agree. But have you seen I Know Who Killed Me, Georgia Rule, or Just My Luck? Yeesh. I'd like to think that returning to broad comedy might be just what she needs, but honestly, her reputation on set isn't exactly the most collaborative/responsible/constructive. I'd just hate to see her drag down the best hourlong comedy on television.

But yes, she's definitely a step up from Britney, as far as slowly-imploding tabloid lasses go.

    I Know Who Killed Me

Actually, I have seen I Know Who Killed Me and think it's a rather fascinating mess of a movie, and La Lohan is pretty good in it.

    Lindsay....

I think Lindsay and Britney are both trying to get their careers back on track by starring in small tv roles....I don't give two hoots about either of them...but i will say I am sick of all the trainwrecking going on and don't mind a comeback....
