Belinda Montgomery and Neil Patrick Harris
In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- Above, Neil Patrick Harris gets a smooch from former TV mom Belinda Montgomery (who played Mrs. Howser back in the day) at an arts festival event over the weekend.
- Cynthia Nixon has signed on to play performance artist/downtown legend Penny Arcade in the sequel to The Naked Civil Servant, An Englishman in New York. John Hurt will reprise his Servant performance in the lead role of Quentin Crisp in the next chapter of his life, which took the flamboyant gay man to Manhattan in the 80's, where he quickly became a society fixture.
- Above, from our newsy sib site, 365Gay: A report on the recent ruling in California stating that doctors cannot refuse care to lesbian and gay patients based on their religious beliefs.
- Miley Cyrus's big 16th birthday blowout at Disney will be attended by 30,000 of the only men in the world who couldn't care less that she's one year closer to the age of consent. Yes, the gays.
Rock on, Rob Halford.
- Happy Birthday to Rob Halford, the out gay lead singer of Judas Priest.
- I'll admit it, I haven't seen The Office in years. So am I missing something in this webisode where Angela visits Gay Oscar's house and finds him drunk and sunbathing in a bobbed wig, or is it just as stupid as it seems?
And today's Briefs are brought to you by...
This guy!

The Office...
I'm not sure that really qualifies as a webisode, and I think that might contribute to the confusion. It seems more like a behind the scenes, this is what actors do in their spare time, kinda thing. You have to understand that the characters of Oscar and Angela are played by Oscar (Nunez) and Angela (Kinsey). The character of Angela is childless, while the actress has a daughter named Isabel (which is actually reffered to in the viral web-clip). Neither are in character, so I'm confident it isn't attempting to suggest anything cliche about the lives of gay men, as Oscar Nunez is heterosexual.
But yes (and I say this as a die-hard Office fan), it is pretty stupid.
Naked Civil Servant, part 2
I'm so looking forward to this, I saw the Naked Civil Sevant years ago on my local PBS station and was completely mesmerized by the series. I watched it whenever it was repeated after that. Anyone who hasn't seen it really should take the time. It's amazing story of a man who knew what he was and didn't try to hide it, even after being beaten up for it.
I'm really happy that John Hurt will be playing Quentin again. John was so good in his portrayal that I can't imagine anyone else playing Crisp.
Keeping fingers crossed that part two will be as good as part one.
My 1st Concert ever
