AfterElton Briefs: How to come out on Facebook, the gayest Tonys ever, and more!

Jill Biden speaking last night at the GLSEN Respect Awards in NYC (Pic: GETTY)

Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • Above, Jill Biden (wife of Vice President Joe Biden) speaking at last night's GLSEN Respect Awards, one of several Gay Pride gestures made by the White House yesterday.
  • Presumably to honor Gay Pride Month, TIME has published a tongue-in-cheek guide to coming out on Facebook. While the author doesn't recommend "Super-poking your hot co-worker," the idea does have a certain ring to it, no?
  • Dolly, Elton, Liza, Stockard, and NPH just may be enough to out-gay the planned pairing of hair-metal group Poison with the Rock of Ages cast in this Sunday's Tonys telecast. Maybe.

  • I've personally never been able to get into Reno 911!, but the above Date a Cop video for gay Lt. Jim Dangle (straight Thomas Lennon) is pretty cute.
  • And speaking of the Tonys, former host Hugh Jackman says Neil Patrick Harris doesn't need any advice, noting, "He's a very funny guy. He shouldn't listen to anything I say."
  • And finally, Logo (our parent company) has teamed up with Amazon for a co-branded LGBT Amazon store (check out the banners and section on the main movie store page) for June, Gay Pride month. It's the first LGBT store of its kind within the retail giant, and is a gesture that may be appreciated by those who are still smarting from their flubbing of gay tags earlier this year.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

Model Kris Kranz for Energie underwear!!

Amazon is not the world's only bookseller.

How about instead of supporting Amazon, support a real-world, local bookstore?  Amazon is killing off local bookstores by undercutting them. They even stole their name from a lesbian bookstore in Minneapolis.

Well, you brought it up

I saw "17 Again" the other day and was prepared to dislike it.  Well, I did dislike it, but an obvious point should be made: Zac Efron can act!  He's easily the best thing about the film.  The worst thing about the film is Thomas Lennon.  He plays a welathy slacker who made his bucks by doing something clever with computers.  When his best friend (Matthew Perry) decides to become Zac Efron (talk about a brainstorm!), the two practically have sex on the spot.  Lennon's character agrees to pose as Zac's dad, in spite of the fact that he's been living alone with his toys since high school.  All right, so enough with the heavy breathng already!  Then, because this is the way Hollywood thinks, Lennon's character does a complete 180 and falls in love with the very next female he sees, who just happens to be Zac's principal.  He woos her by buying her buses and then discovers they have Hobbit-speak in common.  I guess it isn't Lennon's fault, but his character is so badly written that I cringed whenever he was on screen.  So skip "17 Again," unless you are jonesing for more Zac, but, yes, the Date a Cop video is pretty cute.

Not just Amazon

iTunes also just added a gay specific store with music, movies, and other things for the gays to buy with all their disposable income.

You can support PFLAG through Amazon

I try to avoid buying things from Amazon, but when I do order from them, I go to Amazon through this link -

http://community.pflag.org/NETCOMMUNITY/Page.aspx?pid=592&srcid=194

and PFLAG gets a percentage of the money.  So if you're going to buy from the kinda evil corporate behemoth, please use the link above every time you do and some of the money will go to the good guys.

Incidentally, I just noticed that Amazon has season sets of these Logo shows available - Coming Out Stories - S1  Shirts & Skins - S1  Transamerican Love Story - S1  The Outlaugh Festival on Wisecrack - Complete Series  Gimme Sugar - S1.  These are DVD-R 'Burn on Demand' sets, so they won't work in some DVD players, but I'm so happy you can buy these now!  I hope more shows become available.  (And that AfterElton lets us know about them - apparently they've been out since February and I had no idea they existed, and I'm obsessed with gay DVDs.)

Thanks for that

For one reason or another, I keep on getting Amazon vouchers and I've resisted using them because Amazon US appears to have questionable ethics. If I can order stuff through that PFLAG site, I most definitely will do. It's sort of a karmic balance. So thank you again :-)

The way

The most obvious example of questionable ethics is when Amazon started discriminating against gay and lesbian books and authors recently
