AfterElton Briefs: The "Noah's Arc" movie gets a release date, John Amaechi's Olympic blogging, and more!

In a continued effort to bring you all that is important in the world of gay entertainment and ensure that you are being spoon-fed images of gorgeous, commoditized manflesh, we present the newly-minted AfterElton Briefs. Following the usual assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • Good news for Noah's Arc fans! The feature NA film, Jumping the Broom, will hit theaters October 24th (in limited distribution, natch). For updates and cities, check out the movie's website.
  • This Out article about the first gay couple to be married in Palm Springs is classic rubbernecking material. Wait, Paul and Dean think that leather guys, drag queens and transgender individuals are "bad examples" of the LGBT community ... while they're the ones getting photographed wearing matching doily-pants?
  • By contrast, this interview from the L.A. Times with Simon Doonan and Jonathan Adler about their upcoming wedding is positively charming. (Like we expected less.)
The engaging (and engaged) Adler and Doonan

  • I guess this is hardly news, but I think Morrissey needs a hug.
  • Always-entertaining out NBA Hall of Famer John Amaechi is blogging from Beijing, giving a rare gay's-eye view of the Olympics.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

This guy!

For their sake...

...I hope that unlike with the TV series a substantial amount of time was spend on the script and the guys all went to acting school.

NOAH'S ARC is such a good and somewhat important concept, but the show was simply unwatchable. :-(

Noah's Arc Fun

I enjoy this series. It is after all about "gay men looking for love and signs of intelligent life in West Hollywood." It's not gay men looking for Shakespeare and the Grand Unification Theory at MIT in Cambridge. Considering there have been next to zilch gay black men in mass media as role models upon which to build black gay characters on the small and big screen, I think it does a great job. I like the acting. It's sincere. The cast is hot. I like that their relationship issues are all different from each other. And thank god it's not the all-black version of Dante's Cove. Now there's a series where acting is not required (powers of Tressum make D.C. go away before the next season!). :P

After reading the article, I think PhilandDean...

...will end up the First Gay Couple to be Divorced in Palm Springs.

amnesty international, john amaechi

I did not realize that John Amaechi was associated with Amnesty International. That is awesome. Amnesty is such a great human rights organization. It helps so many people accross the world. It's one of the things I use to cheer myself up whenever I'm depressed about the state of the world and all the selfish, greedy, rich bastards out there.

John Amaechi's blog is interesting.  I like how frank he is without coming accross as rude. He's a very intelligent and insightful guy. Comments don't seem to be working, though.

From reading Amaechi's blog

You get the feeling that things aren't all that great between fellow NBA players and coaches and Amaechi.  Maybe it's a little late, but my respect for Amaechi rose quite a bit after realizing how difficult things are now for him.

Wrong Link

The link about "Paul and Dean" is the same link as the Noah's Arc one.

Thanks!

Bizarre - I've fixed, thanks for pointing out!
