Nate and Eliza Dushku
Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- Eliza Dushku (Buffy, Dollhouse) is developing a biopic about gay photographer Robert Mapplethorpe that will star her brother, Nate.
- Looks like I'm not the only PYT (not a word, Jensen!) who fell for gay Portland mayor Sam Adams's charms: he has admitted to having an affair with a teenaged staffer named Beau Breedlove, who is not, it turns out, a villain from the Mighty Mouse cartoons.
Mark Duplass and Joshua Leonard in Humpday
- Gay Sundance pickup: The "beyond gay" porno bromance comedy Humpday was picked up by Magnolia after a four-day distribution do-si-do with suitors.
- And as Towleroad pointed out, within seconds of President Barack Obama's swearing-in, the official White House website was updated with his civil rights agenda, which includes a lengthy section on LGBT rights that includes supporting full civil unions and federal rights for LGBT couples, expanding adoption rights, repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell, and opposing a federal gay marriage ban.

Brian, I just wanted to
I was listening to my
Is she bucking for
Mayor Adams and "the teen"
First of all, the teen was 18, so not jail bait. Secondly, I am SO TIRED of the whole "sex scandal" thing with politicians. Who the hell cares what they do in bed or with whom????!!! It was the same thing with Eliot Spitzer. So he had sex with a prostitute. Big deal. What does that have to do with his job? Aaarrrrghhh.
I may be mistaken, but I
I don't think so
as the charges have now been dropped. He knew the subprime mess was happening before it hit the media, and was actually going after the Bush Administration and the Wall St. offenders, and suddenly, what do you know - he's busted for seeing a prostitute. Now that he can no longer do any damage, the charges have been dropped. And you can't tell me he's the only one in Washington or politics in general to be seeing a prostitute.
The problem with Adams --
was that his rival in the Mayoral race -- also openly gay -- knew about the affair and talked about it in the campaign. Adams took out a full page ad in the newspapers denying there was an affair. Now for some reason ( a sexual harrasment suit?) he's admitting the truth. That's really shabby and he has no one but himself to blame.
And yes sex scandals are stupid.
I agree. He dug a whole
I agree. He dug a whole by lying and then kept the shovel in hand.
I don't think that sex scandals are stupid though. When religious leaders who condemn homosexuals are exposed as frequenters of gay hustler sites, the scandal exposes them for the frauds that they are. When it's revealed that the state senator who pushed for anti-gay legislation is cruising the local callboy hangouts, the scandal does some good. If we want these posers to be exposed for the frauds that they are, we too are going to be held up under the same microscope( and probably one with even greater magnification abilities) and thus must be better than our straight counterparts.
I honestly
had never heard of Adams until AfterElton, so I haven't followed any of this. I'm not condoning his lying about the affair, but it's a little like Clinton. A man denies having an affair and this is supposed to be some huge, federal crime? Come on! What married man DOESN'T deny having an affair? It's pretty boring, mundane stuff. Stupid, yes. Human nature? Yes.
I agree with you about the Larry Craig types, but I see that as a different issue.
