Thomas Roberts and Patrick Abner came out against Prop 8
Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.
- On Saturday night a host of celebs converged for the Heroes & History Makers Gala, an effort to raise awareness for same-sex marriage and build forces against Proposition 8, which seeks to eradicate the right of gay couples in California to marry. Above, newsman Thomas Roberts smiles for the cameras with his partner, Patrick Abner.
- Was George Michael really dropped from receiving a 2009 Brit Award for Contributions to Music because of his recent drug arrest? Well, maybe High Times can give him one for pulling off a hard-to-master Cannabis Charge Hat-Trick.
- Chicago may be getting a school designed with gay students' education and safety in mind, and CNN's story about the news puts it in plain terms: "... harassment and violence are causing gay students to skip class and drop out at alarming rates."

letter to ellen....
Seeing as Ellen has done a buttload for gay visibility, her not donating does not bother me. I mean, she hasn't been quiet about it. she HAS spoken out against it, on her website, on her talk show and on Leno.
Maybe she HAS donated....anonymously? Hey, someone said it happens. I have no idea.
With that said, I don't think it was fair to write that letter to ONLY Ellen. Maybe address it to "Members of the LGBT community in Hollywood" or something like that. Whatever.
I know the writer isn't trying to seem rude or anything, but come on....at the end of the day, I think Ellen has done just fine with showing how she feels for Proposition 8...donation or not.
No On Prop 8 Donations
I don't know where Jacob Reitan lives, but I do know you don't have to live in California to donate to the No on Prop 8 campaign. So unless he's putting his money where his mouth is, he shouldn't be writing an open letter to anyone.
This is something that concerns all LGBT Americans. The Mormons raised over $80 million by calling on all their members across the nation to help pass Prop 8. Someone in the LGBT community needs to make that same sort of call to all gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer citizens across the country.
Connecticut, Massachusetts and California notwithstanding, there's still a long way to go and if this bill passes in California you can be sure same sex marriage will be dead in the water for everyone. Don't let this happen!!!
If you live in California there are voluteer opportunities (I've worked the phonebanks and I hate making cold calls). If you live outside California, donate money, so we can keep pace with the ads that are being run due to the Mormon donations.
Peace, Joy and Love
