Please tell me you've seen "Dominick and Eugene"
One of the best movies ever about a male-male relationship, in this case fraternal twins, played by Hulce and Ray Liotta. It's not even a remotely "gay" movie, but the bond between the characters and the actors is so palpable, it almost jumps off the screen, truly "a love story between two men." And oh, the last half hour will have you going through a box of Kleenex--and that's before the last 5 minutes. Everything that "Rain Man" wanted to be and fell short of, this is. And aside from "Amadeus" and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," this is Hulce's masterpiece.
"Dominick & Eugene"
Truly sweet sleeper of a film. In Danny Peary's book Alternate Oscars, he gives Tom Hulce the "Best Actor of 1988" award. There's also fine acting by Ray Liotta as Hulce's brother, Eugene, and Jamie Lee Curtis as Gino's girlfriend.
Embarrassing confession: even though they play brothers, and Nicky is brain-damaged, I still enjoyed the shower scene. (Yes, I know. Wrong on so many levels. But Ray and Tom were hot.)
