Where's Ollian in "Best Gay Kiss"?
Truth be told, while 5 out of the 6 nominees are nice kisses and all, for me they all pale in comparision to Oliver & Christian's numerous recent kisses on German soap Verbotene Liebe (Forbidden Love). Which one? Well, in this handy compilation of just a few of their kisses, I'd vote for the 2nd or 4th one in the video.

the Barrowman / Marsters kiss was definitely 2008. For that matter, Shelter is 2008 as well, and which I might argue is even less seen then the Forbidden Love kisses. You've painted yourself into a gay kissing corner, Michael. :P (Just trying to argue Ollian onto the list a year early, haha.)
Good selection anyways. Makes me want to study each one in-depth. Well, except for the SNL one. Eek! lol I think I'm leaning toward Jack / Ianto though on this particular list.

Now Michael, we all know very well that Nuke kiss did not take place in 2007, whether we're going by the filming date or the broadcast date. Heck, you had a clock on AE keeping track of how long it had been since Nuke last kissed!
As for the threat of a certain flying monkey, I'm not afraid! I know its Achilles heel - I've been stockpiling Brothers & Sisters video clips with lots of talking that can easily paralyze said monkey. Send the flying monkey at his peril!

I thought the reason that that Ollian's kiss was left off was because a lot of viewers had switched from Nuke to Ollian, and if Ollian was included, it would take votes away from Nuke. And Nuke has to win this silly poll.
I mean, we need this poll if it makes us feel better after knowing that P&G have caved into the pressure of the AFA by scripting a "love the fag hate the fagoty kissing" story-line, but in doing so was able to push out one nice kiss this year. Vote for the Nuke kiss. Don't forget to send a bag of chocolates to CBS, too.

Of course it's fair to include Ollian kisses. Since AfterElton is hosting this particular award, "Best Gay Kiss", you kinda have to visit this website in order to participate in the voting process.
Also, not everyone follows Torchwood, Brothers & Sisters or ATWT. Not everyone has seen Shelter or has watched that particular SNL skit. But where can one watch clips of all the nominated kisses? That's right... on YouTube and other video hosting sites.
Ultimately, in a head-to-head vote, we'd see which kiss resonates the most with voters. Perhaps an Ollian kiss wouldn't win but it would certainly rank very highly. The blog entries about new Forbidden Love video clips have generated a lot of comments; one posting has led to 69 comments so far and another has 46. That's pretty impressive.

At first I thought the same, I imagined that they had to keep the choices sufficently broad because other people outside of AE would be voting. But guess what, it is a AE only poll. I voted on the other categories and there is no mention of this one. And by pure chance , I found another one in Towleroad that is not mentioned anywhere. And there are others.
So everyone who comes to AE knows enough about Ollian for them to have been included. So it is fair. I would have liked to see Chris and Ollie instead of the SNL kiss.
Having said that; I get that even if Ollian is insanely popular with most of us, it is a very recent thing for AE. Maybe a month or two and this award has to reflect a whole year. That would be the only reason they were not included.
As for Shelter and ATWT, they are very recent, but there has been a copious amount of talk for more than a year about the former and 7 months of expectation about the latter. So they are both justified.
SNL not so much.
Forbidden Love too recent?
Michael did state above that he was concerned not enough people would be familiar with Ollian and Forbidden Love. Though that certainly wouldn't be for lack of promotion on AE's part. Each new subtitled clip that's posted on the net gets a prominent AE headline and the soap itself has been added to the left hand menu alongside such shows as ATWT, Brothers & Sisters, Torchwood and Ugly Betty.

Michael you say the above options were all filmed in 2007, but how do you know for sure that the first Ollian kiss we see (in the boxing locker thing) wasn't filmed in 2007? What is aired has been filmed approx. 2 months earlier. Grant you the boxing locker kiss wasn't among the best gay Ollian kisses...
But explain it to me again, why was Ollian not among the best gay kiss options? ;o))))

locker room kiss
The very first Ollian kiss (really more of an Olli kiss forced on Christian in the locker room at the boxing gym) isn't hot at all but the fantasy kiss that Christian later envisions in the same scenario is very hot. Both were probably filmed at the same time, though aired on different episodes.

I know I know RJ! I don't remember when it aired, but counting back 2 months it could well have been filmed in 2007 and been included in this list [just to annoy Michael a bit more].
But a seperate list for Ollian, I wouldn't mind!
In the recent GIGA interview both German actors were told of the number of YouTube hits their clips were getting. And they really seemed proud!! They should be told again, how much discussion, good discussion, they stir up!

Too bad Olli and Christian
To bad Olli and Christian could not be included this year since they have the best kisses by far. Two in particular of theirs are gorgeous...the kisses when Christian tries to convince himself that he is not attracted to Ollie, but they end up making love for the first time, and the kisses when Christian tells Olli that he's in love with him with Sia's 'Breath Me' playing in the background. Those kisses in particular are filled with passion, longing, wanting and love.
Gosh...I wish Olli and Christian was in place of that SNL kiss. I guess we'll just have to wait until next year.
My Vote
I voted for Kevin and Scotty, which was a nice kiss but I would have voted for Christian and Olli if they were nominated. Verboten Liebe had the most passionate and romantic kisses by far!
While I loved Shelter, theirs were of the more typical "straight guy actor" variety. Luke/Noah and Torchwood kisses were alright but a little forced. I didn't see the SNL kiss.

Could we have the best Ollian kiss in it's own category? We know which one would be the best for Luke and Noah.
Or maybe the best kiss of John Barrowman's? The man could kiss a paper bag and make it look terrific. Even his kissing in Something About Maria was great. As far as his kisses in Torchwood--the Jack/Jack kiss was heartbreaking, the Jack/John one hot, but the Jack/Ianto scene gave me goosebumps. It gets my vote.

Andy's Dad Kiss
I voted for this one. Otherwise, it was just a struggle over which kiss was hotter. And to be fair, I've only seen that one + NUKE's kiss.
I put myself in Samberg's shoes of just having my 50-something dad come out suddenly + by way of hooking up w/ a friend close to my age. I found it brilliant (minus the very ending, which, imo, was unnecessary).
My favorite part of the dialogue:
Jonah: It's just that, Ben is...
Andy: ...my dad!
Jonah: Yes, your dad, my boyfriend, whatever...

Is it too late to add a "write-in" option?
A "write-in" option might do the trick here. Is it too late? It would be rather interesting to see exactly how many votes Ollian or McDean would get. It would make everyone happy.
Plus, an out-of-nowhere win now (could Ollian pull an upset?) might really make an impact on TPTB of Forbidden Love to put Ollian front & center more often and keep them around much longer than planned. I imagine that type of press would get a lot more people's attention out in the world that aren't aware yet of the Ollian phenomenon.

Shelter
It appears, that most of these people have never seen the movie Shelter.The kisses between Zach (Trevor Wright and Shaun Brad Rowe are amazing to behold they make you believe in love in a first kiss, love and passion in the kisses. They make you believe that kissing is and always will be the hotest and most erotic part of a sexual encounter.
I suggest you all go out and watch the film its a great story about a young man finding real love, in his first gay love.
Shelter should win...but I doubt it will
I've seen all the kisses nominated...each one is very nice in it's own way. But...the kiss in Shelter is perfect for the story behind it and the intimacy it involved. It's such a great movie. In the movie when you see their first kiss you honestly feel like you've just witnessed the birth of love. Every tender moment between them is filled with passion and every scene where they are being tense with one another you can still feel the love.
I don't think it will win because it's not as well known as the rest of the kisses.
