AfterElton Snapshot: Man's best friend for the week ending January 16

YOUR CAPTION HERE

As we go into the weekend, here's a handy shortlist of the biggest stories of the week on AfterElton.com. And to get you into a playful mood, each week's final post will feature a pic up top that desperately needs captioning. Each week we'll pick our fave suggestion from the comments and run it in the following week's post. Have fun! Rawr!

  • Gay Soaps: Our Gays of Our Lives soaps column brought the dish on Brothers & Sisters, Casualty, and more. The Big News of the week was of course that Luke and Noah knocked boots (here's why it's such a big whoop), but let's not overlook the rather excellent sendoff that they gave Brian "Wheatables" Wheatley, Oakdale's not-so-lucky-in-love other gay. And on Hollyoaks, we had bisexual drama between Kris and Ravi. Hawt!
  • Openly gay Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson will be giving the blessing at the opening ceremony of Inauguration week.
  • The man after whom the Ken doll was named led what was by some accounts a very sad life as a closeted gay man before succumbing to AIDS.
  • We dug the new episode of Gossip Girl, which brought gay teen Eric into the family drama.
  • The Flying Monkey was back to answer reader questions.
  • The unused alternate ending to Pineapple Express: Now with even more gay!
  • Is Stan Lee creating the world's first-ever gay superhero? Uh ... no.
The Mocha Lounge

  • Vlogs! Best Supporting Vlog gayed up the Golden Globes ... so that you don't have to. The Mocha Lounge boys shared their Must List picks for 2009. Sounds Like a Hit! tackled American Idol before it had the chance to tackle us first, and Mores for Gays vlogger Daniel Leary sat down with esteemed actor Ian McKellen to chat politics and gay rights.
  • The first pics of out actor John Glover as Uncle Saul's boytoy on Brothers & Sisters.
  • Real World Brooklyn is still hella gay.
  • We reviewed the made-for-TV Prayers for Bobby, which is a deeply moving story of understanding.
  • And thanks to Dennis Ayers and sponsor Lane Bryant, we had the Best.Gay.Week.Ever!

"First person to make a "Dancing Queen" crack has to spend 2009 watching Fox News!"

Big thanks to repeat offender giovannif7 for this week's winning caption!
