AfterElton Snapshot: Your Shmemmy for the weekend of September 19

YOUR CAPTION HERE
As we go into the weekend, here's a handy shortlist of the biggest stories of the week on AfterElton.com. And to get you into a playful mood, each Friday's final post will feature a pic up top that desperately needs captioning. Each week we'll pick our fave suggestion from the comments and run it in the following week's post. Have fun!
- Big Gay News of the week: Star Trek vet George Takei wed his longtime partner, Brad Altman, over the weekend at the Japanese American History Museum.
- The Creative Emmy Awards (The Shmemmys) were, like, reallyreallygay.
- All jokes aside, the McCain/Palin ticket really ain't all that funny.
- We recapped the second episode of True Blood, where things are really heating up.
- T.R. Knight and others showed for the Point Foundation Honors.
- Where is Neil Patrick Harris' other hand?
- We recapped this week's gay-heavy (and heavy, overall) Weeds finale.
- We hit the Ugly Betty Season 3 preview party and dished on some scoop.
- We interviewed NBC Sports' Bob Costas on the coverage of gay athletes by mainstream media.

- Gay soaps! Over on Forbidden Love, Christian and Olli came back into the spotlight when Olli started suffering from headaches and blurred vision. (Noooooo!) On As the World Turns, Luke had little to offer in the fight to save his little brother from the well ... but his hair looked hot! And on Hollyoaks, we bid farewell to the show's beloved gay character, John Paul McQueen.
- We took a look at the way gay men are shaping straight television.
- Oscar-winning gay producer Bruce Cohen will be honored by Outfest.
- On Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency, some gay-baits were tossed and some ballet moves mangled.
- We interviewed gay writer/producer Bryan Fuller, whose Pushing Daisies is one of the most anticipated returns of the fall season.
- In The Gay Geek, Lyle dished on Lynda Carter's response to comparisons between Sarah Palin and Wonder Woman (hint: she no likey).

- Project Runway had a makeover challenge, and the two remaining gay contestants survived ... barely.
- You may not want to send author Annie Proulx your Brokeback sequel where Jack and Ennis meet up in space.
- We took a look at how things are changing in the way that the mainstream media covers gay celebrities who aren't necessarily out, and clarified our editorial stance on the matter.
- Dan recapped Top Design ... where a beloved member of Team Gay crashed and burned.
- Brad Pitt donated $100,000 to fight the anti-gay Proposition 8. Nice!
- We shared the first pics of Chad Allen on General Hospital: Night Shift.
- We gave a preview of what's gay (and what's not) at Sunday's Emmy Awards.
- The Flying Monkey was back to answer reader questions.

- Vlogs!: We launched our first athletics vlog, Outsports Jock Talk, and host Cyd bared all in the first episode. And we also previewed our upcoming Mocha Lounge video blog, which will take a look at entertainment for and by gay men of color. And we kicked off Rory & Jamel's Shirts & Skins Vlog, which gives a behind-the-scenes look at the show. Blood Work taught us never to challenge True Blood to a drinking game, John and Jon got all astrological on The Heidi Chronicles, and Homophonic welcomed out (and cute!) musician Joshua Klipp to the couch. And The Angry Puppy fellas got nostalgic cleaning out their closet.
- And thanks to ... um ... me, we had the Best.Gay.Week.Ever.
- Finally, due your part to help out Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS by picking up a copy of "Leading Men III" this Sunday at the "Flea Market" in Manhattan!
Drop your caption ideas in the comments, and check out last week's winner after the jump!

Not a SINGLE SUBMISSION for last week's pic, proving once and for all that no one actually cares about Rachel Zoe or Harvey Weinstein.
