Alec Baldwin as a "Cougay" and Wii enthusiast on "Saturday Night Live"

Alec Baldwin hosted Saturday Night Live for the 3,403rd time this weekend and for the most part it was a fairly painless outing for the increasingly wobbly sketch comedy mainstay. While I saw more of the Jonas Brothers than anyone over 12 ever needs to see (although the digital short was thankfully not about Andy Samberg's sex life, for once) it's always nice to have a host that actually brings something to the table and can make even a dead-in-the-water skit watchable.

Here's three of the skits to feature gay gags: The Cougar Den episode that featured Baldwin as a gay cougar ("Cougay"), an airball about three aging businessmen trying to schedule a meeting that features some pretty lame gay jokes, and the funniest skit of the week, a simple but hilarious sight gag about playing Wii

Saturday Night Live

I didn't find anything humorous about the Cougar Den skit. Seriously, I have had my fill of the lispy effeminate gay stereotyping. It just reeks of "We ran out of ideas. Let's have Alec Baldwin play a queen." Ugh.

The Wii Guys skit was very funny. The visual humor was right on the money. Even after a second viewing I was cracking up laughing. I also enjoyed the Vincent Price sketch. It always has retro campy goodness.
