Alec Baldwin goes Mexican, "super gay" on "30 Rock"
Last night's 30 Rock found its inner Ugly Betty when Jack (Alec Baldwin) got pulled into a plot revolving a Mexican telenovela that happened to star an actor who looked just like him, who is subconsciously making his girlfriend's grandmother hate him. (Yes, it's complicated.) The gay twist comes later when Jack ambushes the actor who plays the evil "El Generalissimo" in his dressing room and the actor notes offhand that he's "super gay" ... and then references The Belle of Amherst. Baldwin played the Mexican character to the hilt, but interestingly did not employ any standard gay stereotypes while doing it. Both this plot and the other central thread involving Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) accidentally date-rape-drugging her humpy new neighbor (Jon Hamm of Mad Men) were classic 30 Rock. Alec Baldwin is a comedy genius
He's a perfect example of why a character actor's career is so much better than that of a leading man.
Though speaking of leading men, John Hamm is a TOTAL BABE!
