Our pal Jeremy over at GoodAsYou pointed us to a nifty tee that American Apparel is now selling online that proudly demands that Proposition 8 be repealed and gay relationships legitimized ... all with a fun retro look and vertically-integrated, sweatshop-free manufacturing!
The tee is only $17 (is it just me or is that pretty cheap for AA?) and you can check it out on their official website. I personally love one of the user comments currently attached to the shirt: "unconstitutional, unjust, WRONG! great fit!!"

The message feels odd to me...
I don't quite get the phrase "legalize gay." Is this a popular phrase in the Prop 8 battle and the larger marriage equality debate?
I think I like the intent behind the slogan, and the phrase and t-shirt design are definitely attention-getting -- but do the words fit the moment? Does it comment effectively/accurately on marriage equality? On gay civic rights in general?
Not critiquing here -- just truly asking for some others' opinions...
American Apparel...
i boycott american apparel
I urge you not to endorse American Apparel products here. I would hate to see gay people boosting this business en masse.
