"American Idol": Backstage at the elimination

Here are a few pics from backstage at last night's elimination episode that I thought you fans might enjoy.

But before that, mind if I complain about how much I hate this show? Oh I kid, I kid!

Actually, last night's elimination was pretty easy going. The shots of the cast in facemasks lent a wonderfully post-apocalyptic vibe to the show and the eliminated contestant, Alexis Grace, really did try her darnedest to save herself by rocking up her cover of the Dolly Parton classic "Jolene". Unfortunately, I just don't think she had the chops to really pull it off ... and neither did the judges, who opted not to spend their lone Get Out of Elimination Free card on the pink-streaked lass.

Speaking of Dolly, can we talk about Carrie Underwood's Best Little Whorehouse getup? A glittery black velveteen rose in the hair? Really? And it was nice of Jack Skellington to show up to accompany her. And this guy made fun of Adam for wearing nail polish. Really.

So if nothing else, our boy is booked for the Idol tour this summer, which means that he'll be in the spotlight for quite a while.
