Anthony Callea: "Yes, I am gay"

A while back we reported on the accidental on-air radio "outing" of Australian Idol runner-up Anthony Callea. At the time Callea was not commenting on the fact that a radio host casually referred to Callea and his boyfriend on the air, unaware that the singer's sexuality was not common knowledge.

The Melbourne Herald Sun today ran excerpts from an interview with Callea in which he confirms that he is, indeed, gay, noting:

"I have no issue with my sexuality now but it's taken time to become confident with who I am and happy with who I am ... I'm looking forward to living a life with no holds barred and not worrying about having to say the right thing."

Congrats to Callea on being comfortable enough to finally speak about his sexuality without shame or fear (in a 2004 interview with the same paper, he flat-out denied the rumors). His single "Prayer" is the highest-selling song in Australian chart history.
