Bishop Gene Robinson brings down the house on "The Daily Show"

Okay, we knew he was smart and decent and brave. But who knew openly gay Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson was also laugh-out-loud hilarious? Seriously, if the whole "man of the cloth/spreading the Gospel" gig doesn't pan out, he's a lock for a full season in the Catstkills.

Check out Bishop Robinson's brief but excellent appearance on last night's show (in which he tells us that he told Rev. Rick Warren that he "is praying for him"), after the jump!

    I guess in my comment on Queerview, I didn't mention that I also loved Stewart for the opening of the show - when he took on HBO for cutting Bishop Robinson out of the broadcast because he "could get a bit salty" - which also set up the "queen comment perfectly.  I know Mort on Family Guy has claimed that Stewart must be protected "He's our most important Jew" (quoting here guys, no harm meant), but the gay community really has to protect him as our most important ally.

    Gene Robinson is a wondeful man. If you ever get a chance to meet him don't pass it up.

     

    As for Jon Stewart he's always been a teriffic voice for sane non-homophobic straight men.

    Yes they exist.

    Loved it! Have not laughed so hard in a very long time! Hopefully the Bishop will be able to take up Jon's offer and be back on the show for a lengthier interview.
