Blood Work "True Blood" video blog Ep 9: We're here, we're were-cats, get used to it!

In honor of a Very Big Thing happening in last Sunday's episode of True Blood, Andy and I decided to record this week's Blood Work vlog in our true form.

Yes, we're cats.

But tails, short attention spans and squishy-soft bellies don't get in the way of our recapping this week's wonderfully wacky episode in all its bloody glory ... check it all out, after the break!

Words Fail me...

First of all, I had no idea Brian was an African American cat.

Second, why aren't you bald as a cat? That has got to be the main give-away that this is fake ;)

I now think that Arlene may be the murderer. There was an obscure clue on the Ausiello Files that indicated the murderer was someone we previously thought of as kind and sweet. Plus, no one really suspects her. We know she was married several times before - it's possible that all of her ex-husbands "died under mysterious circumstances". Barring that theory, Arlene may have been "glamored" into doing it.

On the other hand it could be Sam or Sam's brother. Remember a few episodes ago that Sam was playing with a dog that looks exactly like his dog-form? It's possible that Sam has a twin "brother" who's evil and that only one of them can be human at a time. And Dogs hate Cats. I believe that Sam actually called the dog his "brother".

I don't think it's Lafayette because serial killing is bad for business. He's too business oriented to do it.

If it is Tara, then it has to be completely supernatural in nature because Sookie has read her mind on several occasions. The Demon in Tara would actually have to be a real separate consciousness.

I would be very disappointed if it turned out to be either the Iraq War Veteran or that big guy who lives with is mother and tried to hit on that recently divorced skank that Jason ended up f-ing behind Merlotte's. Alan Ball really hasn't done anything interesting enough with these characters to justify making them the serial killers.

Actually...

I'm a Russian Blue. And it's a very good toupee.

Arlene, really? Hmm. I guess I never thought she was "sweet" to begin with. Not Rene? Or Hoyt? They're sweeter, IMHO. At this point I'm just enjoying the ride, really - I've been tipped off that it's kind of out of left field and I know I could find the answer with one click but I'd rather just play along.

Sam did call the other dog "brother". Never occurred to me that he might also be human when Sam isn't - like Ladyhawke!

Wait for the backstory

The reason why the person kills fangbangers is so great... just wait. It definitely is out of left field, but it's not crazy... you get why this person could do it.

Tara

Tara wasn't even in the first book, she's a made up character (probably for more "diversity" on the show). Doesn't mean that Alan Ball couldn't play with that and totally change who it is in the end...

the laser pen distraction was too funny. :-P

Dean the Dog

Great episode of your Vlog!

As for the name Sookie gave the dog, we thought it was just an in joke reference to SUPERNATURAL (Sam and Dean!). Could be wrong but that's how we took it being totally obsessed with that show.

I seriously thought the same

I seriously thought the same thing about Sam's doggie name when I read the book. Though, it came out in '99 and SPN came out in '05. It is probably a coincidence or Kripke  really likes the Southern Vampire Chronicles.

Kripke

Oh, it's the same in the books (which I had totally forgotten existed)? Maybe we do have the homage reversed. Thanks!

KITTIES!!!!!!!!

CUTE!!!!!!

Ok, high pitched awwing done.

Anyway, that was brill, and seriously though. Am I the only one who calls Sam Lassie? Or were-Lassie.

Laugh out loud!  Oh, so

Laugh out loud!  Oh, so funny with the laser pointer and the wacky-doodle comedic voice-overs!  Too much to handle sometimes...

Is it just me, or is there a possibility that Tara's mother has a chance at being the killer?  I mean, after licking alcohol off the floor there isn't much left for her to do.  And those damn desserts she's always feeding to people, its like she's trying to weigh them down so they can't get away!

Excellent

For a few days I was afraid that your life had consumed you and that we weren't going to get this week's instalment. Sunday to Sunday waiting is too long for me so I'm thankful for your posting. May be I should go out and adopt a cat.

Tara, it can't seriously be Tara, its got be the big dumpy one that still lives with his mother, Hoyt. Even if Tara was obsessed with Jason how could she have killed Gran. No, it just can't be Tara. So, if its not man boy then my money's on Arlene. As we have seen this week, there is few things bigots will not do.

Thanks again, you saved Thursday.

irony?

the funniest thing about this, imho, is that you mock Sookie for naming her cat "Tina" and the dog "Dean" while you guys are a couple of cats named "Andy" and "Brian".

Worth the wait

So worth it you clever pussies.  By the way, the milk cap on the floor is my favor my cat's favorite toy, too.  Or at least that is what I tell anyone who finds them where I drop them.

Please don't let it be Tara as the killer or I'll cry salty blood tears but, yeah, story wise, it could blow it over the top.  I'm pulling for Hoyt as the killer, cause I like em big and stupid, but I'd bet on Rene. Why? Because of all the people who don't seem to care that there is a killer loose (and that would be everybody but Sookie and Bill), he strikes me as caring the least - never being over protective with Arlene.  Just a feeling I get.

Does anybody think psycho Amy is a succubus or some such thing?  And Sookie is clairvoyant and all but why do you think she needs protecting at all costs and it has to be a supernatural type that can protect her?  Bill went to Sam and said "Sookie needs to be protected and you are the only one who can do it in my absence." knowing that he is a were-barkeep.

Thanks guys for a seriously amusing blog.

PS

I once had a hampster called Bartholomew.  I was young, it was the 70's what can I say?

Tina for a cat doesn't seem so out there to me.

Shapeshifters and Demons

From what little I know of the books (Wikipedia, HBO, et al), Sam/Dean is a shapeshifter.  Plus, there are supposed to be actual demons coming along sometime.

Wow, vampires, shapeshifters, and deamons!  True Blood is my kind of fun.  It's also a heck of a lot of fun watching your updates.  Keep up the good work.

 Regards,

Paul

Cat to cats

This Cat thought this week's vlog was purr-fect, guys. Sorry. It was just laying there waiting to be said.

I don't know why but I think the killer's Rene. Genial guy who kinda blends in but there's just a touch of something else lurking. I don't think the killer is Tara. That would be too whack even if she is demon possessed - which she isn't. I don't think. From my POV they've set her up as a sort of moral center to the SL. Tara's got a hellacious temper but she pretty much always does the good and honest thing.

Holy Cats!

The editing and sync-up work alone would have killed me. That's some incredible dedication.

I'm actually looking forward to checking this show out, thanks to you guys.

Every time I see Humbert's ear I picture you chasing him around with a hole-puncher. Come to think of it, what about Chad? You know, for an animal name? Hey,  it's no worse than Carol or Ruth...

pet names

I have always thought pet names should be a bit more... fanciful. I prefer names like: Snowy, Dancer, Muffintop, etc. I think humans need to take advantage of the fact that their pets don't really know how ridiculous their name is. Or maybe pets do know, but simply tolerate that fact in exchange for free room and board (and loving care). ;-)

If you couldn't guess, I'm a HUGE fan of Sneaky Pie Brown!! YEAH! Famous co-author of the awesome Ms.Murphy series!!

BLOOD WORK

The film starts out as a fairly atmospheric and stylish thriller, let down by the fact that some of the clues are overemphasised so that the likely suspect becomes obvious rather early on. However, the interesting story concept is still enough to hold one's attention. Sadly, it all rather comes apart at the end with its Hollywood ending, which was ill-advisedly changed from the ending of the bestselling book. Clint Eastwood makes some impact onscreen, wisely choosing a role that suits his age and demeanor, although the other big names in the film don't really get much chance to shine.
