AfterElton Briefs: Bravo stays gay with its first scripted series, GLAAD launches a new "Ally & Friend" campaign, and more!

Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • John Barrowman has reportedly told a British mag that he's feeling "broody" and that he and hubby Scott Gill hope to have kids by the end of the year, noting, "The other night I went to see Jason Donovan in Priscilla Queen Of The Desert and I was in floods of tears watching the scenes between him and his son."
  • Esquire has apologized for tossing around "faggot" in their "How to Be a Man" issue. In my experience, "real men" don't need to defend their masculinity by stooping to insults like that ... but what do I know, I'm just a faggot.
  • GLAAD has launched the third year of its "Be and Ally & a Friend" campaign that features gay and gay-friendly celebs encouraging straight folks to support their LGBT friends and neighbors. Check out the first spot, which features Kyra Sedgwick, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin, Sally Field, Ron Rifkin, Ellen DeGeneres, Anika Noni Rose, Rufus Wainwright, and Alan Cumming.
Lisa Rinna and Harry Humiliated Hamlin

  • The launch party for Tori Spelling's new book was more or less an exercise in terror (Bobby Trendy! The Millionaire Matchmaker!) but the above pic of Harry Hamlin trying to pull wife Lisa Rinna away from the flashbulbs is pretty much my favorite thing ever. (Speaking of, did anyone catch ol' Harry's turn on Harper's Island last week? Yowch!)
  • The latest New York Magazine features dozens of celebs telling their stories of first arriving in the city, and gays and gay-faves featured include Rufus Wainwright, Amy Sedaris, Nick Denton, Larry Kramer, Jann Wenner, Michael Lucas, James Franco and more.
  • Lotsa gayness coming out of the Bravo upfronts (not that we're surprised!), including the interesting news that the net will soon be premiering its first-ever scripted (i.e., non-reality) original series: the dramedy Blueprint follows two best friends, one straight and one gay, who together run "New York's hottest architecture and design firm."

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

This guy!

Thank you Brian

Thank you for the dead pan on Esquire - that was brilliant. I admit to quoting it (with credit) out to my Twitter stream.  Don't know why it struck me as the perfect response, but it was.

Plus, if faggots stopped buying Esquire, the mag would fold instantly.

Harry Hamlin?

Very choppy performance. Not a bad show BTW, a lot of gay faves.

I'm enjoying Harper's Island

quite a bit! It's shaping up to be a nice murder mystery, and it looks like the deaths are going to be crossing the line into slasher film territory. Plus, there's lots of eye candy:

Christopher Gorham as Henry, the groom

Victor Webster as Hunter, the bride's ex

CJ Thomason as Jimmy, a local fisherman

Richard Burgi as the bride's wealthy father

and Harry Hamlin as the groom's Uncle Marty

or, more accurately (as of the end of episode 1), the groom's half-Uncle Marty.

I'm definitely in for the full run!
