Chad Allen scrubs up for the "General Hospital: Night Shift"
Here's some great news: Our friend Damon over at GLAAD just tipped us off that out actor Chad Allen has signed on to play a multi-episode arc on General Hospital: Night Shift as Eric Whitlow, a patient in need of a transplant. Allen will appear for three episodes as a love interest for gay doctor Kyle Julian (Adam Grimes), who helps the patient's family during their ordeal. We would of course love to see him signed on for more than three eps as a potential love interest, but hey, we'll enjoy it while it lasts. Head writer Sri Rao had this to say about the casting: “We're delighted to have Chad join our show because, not only is he a remarkable actor, he's also an amazing activist. For years I have been inspired by Chad and welcome the honesty and authenticity that he will bring to our show." We actually have a recaplet of last night's episode, in which Dr. Julian assisted a lesbian patient with family issues, in the works already, and it looks like GH:NS will be giving us more gay-inclusive storylines to keep track of. We'll let you know more when we can!

YAY!!!
Can I just say this news brought a smile to my face! After enduring the tragedy that is ATWT, I hope that GH: Night Shift can pick it up and show that we can compete with the European soaps.

USA back where it belongs
Now, don't get me wrong. I love my German soaps and all, but this sounds like it will put US tv back where it belongs, namely on the forefront on issues like these (ok, so maybe it's cheating a bit because it's technically cable, but it's soap cable!). Based on how Nightshift has dealt with ethnic minority characters, I have complete faith that they'll do the storyline justice and that there is plenty of potential that it will kick ass.
Plus, actually competent actors like Chad Allen? Wohooo!
I can't wait to see ..
Chad and Antonio Sabato Jr. on screen together and shirtless perhaps they can compare tattoos before they collpse into bed. LOL!!!!!

Chad Allen on General Hospital: Night Shift
It's terrific they got a really talented actor like Chad Allen, and the fact he is out and proud is icing on the cake.
FANTASTIC!!!!
This is great news!
Someone posted something the other day, and I was dubious, but now that it's been confirmed - YAY!
For some reason I want to squeel like a little girl - EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - although I'm not quite sure why. 8)
I guess it's just so exciting to me to see my favorite soap (a spinoff at least) doing a gay storyline, with hot actors, and someone who I think really is very good (Chad!) I hope (especially since it's on cable, at a later time) we'll get to see some kissing at least!!!
To reiterate my excitement: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love Interest
since Night Shift is 13 episode (I think), and 4 episodes have aired, a 3 episode arc is pretty good. I was sure that they wouldn't bring anyone on for Kyle, but I am so glad to be wrong!
I wonder a bit about "Love Interest" and if we are really talking more about flirting and less about dating.
