"Dancing With the Stars" recaplet (7.10): Swing out, sister!

Last night Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer performed DWTS's first-ever West Coast Swing ... but thanks to a poorly-balanced routine, the fact that Lance slipped and fell on his bum was the least of their worries.

For the rundown, meet me after the jump.

Lancey was up first last night, and the show made a big deal out of the fact that Lacey is the Champion of the Universe of West Coast Swing, thanks to her father, who introduced the style into formal ballroom competition.

So when they hit the stage and started out (to what I think was a Pussycat Dolls song ... is anyone else so horrified by the Muzak recreations that they block them out like a bad childhood memory?) with a little sass in their step it looked like they might have another winner on their hands.

But it soon became clear that Lacey was doing all the work and Lance was doing Ashlee Simpson's "hoedown dance" in the background. And to top it all off, Lance slipped on some slide move and fell for a minute, although it didn't really interfere with the number at all.

The judges didn't really even address the fall, because their issue was with the fact that Lacey is clearly trying to be the prettiest pony in the room when what she's really there to do is showcase her partner (their exact words, I'm sure of it). In the end they got a middling 21 ... putting Team Gay in the bottom this week with Cloris Leachman.

Ouch!

Consdering that Lance and Cloris are the only two reasons we're watching this season, we're not ready to see either go home. We'll be watching tonight to see what happens...
