Can six gay Designsketeers renovate "Top Design" in Season 2?

Todd Oldham is back for more Top Design

Yes, it's a big gay week over at Bravo. Hot on the heels of announcing the cast of Project Runway 5 (which starts ... um ... last night! More on that later...), the net is immediately diverting attention to their ongoing Top Design franchise by announcing that cast over a month and a half in advance of the show's premiere. Are they deliberately stealing Runway's thunder now that it's a lame duck franchise bound for Lifetime?

It's all the same to us ... More Team Gay!

If you remember Season 1 (and we barely do), it went a little something like this: Four guys on Team Gay ... We Heart Todd Oldham ... Pacific Design Center ... What the eff is Kelly Wearstler wearing ... Why is Goil crying again ... "Mayor of Excuses Village" ... Straight Matt wins.

Though the challenges actually got interesting by the end, the show overall was a snooze. There's just something about dressing up a plain white space that isn't nearly as interesting as making a living person wear produce (Runway) or cutting their hair with hedge shears (Shear Genius). But Bravo took drastic steps for Season 2 in hiring Runway producers Magical Elves and adding a host (India Hicks) to play Heidi (Oldham is back as mentor, and Jonathan Adler, Wearstler, and Margaret Russell are back as judges). Here's to hoping the renovation makes a difference.

So here are your gay contenders for Season 2 (note that 6 out of 7 total men are gay, or 6 out of 13 total contestants).

Wisit adds another queer person of color to TV land.  Yay!  Making up for what scripted shows seem to be missing.

    Yikes! Wisit looks exactly

Yikes! Wisit looks exactly like a lesbian colleague I used to have. He even sits like her! And that jacket...

A new host who doesn't sound like a pedophile can't hurt

as long as they get the hell out of the white boxes....

and, I really do love J. Adler, but please drop the painful aufing phrase, and maybe loosen that immense knot at his neck.

Oh, and I really do like Todd Oldham (loved Handmade Modern, or whatever it was called), but he did skeeve a liitle bit on some of scripted parts. He's great when he sounds natural and not like he's reading a grimm's tale with ulterior motives.

SO.... guess I have some issues from season 1, but I care enough to follow season 2. Come on Bravo, give it up for me!

    Designers are HORRIBLE

Okay...so I'm a hobby designer and consider myself pretty friggin talented. I was very excited about this show...watched it for the first time and was HIGHLY disappointed. Granted $2,000 isn't a lot to do with a loft space, but judging by what they came up with....they don't know how to design unless given a budget of $60,000 for each room.

Question: Who can't make a room look good with $60,000? The true test is when you can create great style without having the ability to go buy $3,000 lamps.

My opinion...they have left the gate with a big trip and fall! Hope they get it together!

if I were putting my money on it...Nathan will be the best of the gays, but the gay cast and crew (i.e. Todd Oldham and Jonathon Adler) will let hormones get in the way and keep the "pretty" skum bag on the show.
