Did Jerry Lewis drop an F-word on the telethon?
We're not talking Quentin Tarantino F-word here, but the Isaiah Washington variety. In hour 18 of yesterday's telethon, it certainly seems that funnyman Jerry Lewis refers to someone as an "illiterate faggot" before catching himself and moving on quickly to the rest of the live shtick. I've rewatched this over and over and can't come up with any ideas for other words that Lewis might have been meaning to use. It's now looped in my head like that "back and to the left" scene from JFK. Submitted by on Tue, 2007-09-04 07:56. |

TSK
My computer won't play the darn video, but i believe you. that makes me a tad sad, seeing as i love jerry....*sigh*
Telling reaction
When I first saw this clip, I was willing to give Jerry Lewis the benefit of the doubt, and half-expected to hear ''fatty.'' Also, a few posters at Towleroad (where I originally saw it) said, ''Relax, he said 'fatty.''' But now that I've played it a few times, I have to conclude Lewis said ''fag.'' And what's telling to me is the audience reaction. After he says the F-word, there's an audible ''ooooooohhhhh'' (as if to say, ''What did you just say?''), and as if to react to that, Lewis catches himself and says, ''No.'' Then he suddenly and literally changes the direction of his shtick (insulting the family) and walks back the other way. Sorry, Lewis blew it.
deeply insulting
Hey Jerry!
