Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson camps it up on SNLI don't have much to say about this clip other than that I've always kind of liked Dwayne Johnson because I had the feeling that he had a good sense of humor about himself and he hasn't played to many of the macho stereotypes that you might expect a former pro wrestler to fall prey to (he even played gay in one of those Get Shorty movies). But his monologue on SNL, where he wore a ladies' top, did a chair dance right out of Chicago and made jokes about his trainer/choreographer/roommate, pretty much sealed the deal for me. Team Rock! Wow, he can really sing, too.
One of the best opening parodies I've seen since Jake Gyllenhall and the "Brokeback-meets-Dreamgirls" bit.
I saw an interview with him
He makes me giddy
Never a WWE fan, I was less than thrilled when I heard Johnson was going to host SNL the first time about 10 years ago (as The Rock, as we notes in the monologue). Great, I remember thinking, another sports figure who can't act or make fun of himself. Boy was I surprised by how charming, multi-talented, and (yes) sexy he could be. In the first hosting gig he even sang a decent cover of "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" I was smitten.
But this week's SNL made me fall even harder for him! I literally squealed during his Chicago-inspired opening. His "The Rock Obama" sketch was hilarious. And he did some hot hula dancing in a Hawaiian restaurant sketch (during which I realized we just don't get to see enough of this man's knees...)
My dream: He gets cast just once without his physicality being a factor. (I know, ironic considering how much I appreciate his physical attributes.) But I think he'd be surprisingly refreshing in a smart romantic comedy or an indie serio-comic workplace drama where he just gets to utilize his natural charm.
Hot Hot Hot
I have to say I've not watched the show for quite a number of years but that was a HOT opening number. He has a great sense of humor and the talent to pull something like that off without it being over the top. That put a smile on my face and rise in my pants!.
I thought that most of the skits were funny too.
I like The Rock, and thought that many of the skits were funny as well. Go figure. The Neil Patrick Harris eppisode and now The Rock episode... Maybe SNL finally hired some writers who are actually funny.
Much Love, Brian

If everyone in here is gay, then what is my priest doing here?!
