On Saturday night I checked out the GLAAD Media Awards in NYC and had the chance to chat up a slew of gay and gay-friendly folks on the red carpet. Two of the friendliest faces were of course As the World Turns actors Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann, with whom I have been known to rock out in the past.

The guys were on-hand to accept the award the show received for Best Daytime Drama, but I took the opportunity to get a little scoop about the much-anticipated arrival of mysterious twins Zac and Zoe (they show up this Thursday). Here's what I got from Van and Jake, as well as a preview clip from Thursday's ep, thanks to Roger at We Love Soaps

AfterElton: Your characters have had such a great run lately, and it really does feel like the couple has reached a new plateau in terms of their comfort with one another and the writers' comfort in presenting them. Does it feel any different either in the scenes or on set?

Jake Silbermann: I feel really lucky, and not to embarrass you, Van, but I feel like I'm coming to work with one of my best friends every day.

Van Hansis: When you see that things have changed on screen, I think that might be more of a character thing than an on-set thing because we're always pretty easygoing, we come in and do our scenes and have a good time, that's always been. But I think right now the difference is the characters are working together instead of working against each other. It's more like they're a team.

AE: Which is great.

JS: Especially with what's about to happen. Something is coming that would normally test a relationship, but they both go over it really quickly.

AE: Would this be the twins?

VH: It is the twins.

AE: And should we be excited about them? Is there any dirt you can tell us?

JS: There's two of them.

VH: Yes, there's two of them. And there's a bunch of kisses — well, maybe not a bunch, but some — that involve either one or the other of Luke or Noah ... but not the two of them together. Mwahahaha!

And yes, he did do an evil laugh. Here's the clip, and be sure to come back for our ATWT liveblogs for all the action.
