Gay Abe Lincoln visits "The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror #19"

Last night The Simpsons aired its annual horror anthology episode ("Treehouse of Horror") and unsurprisingly there was more than a little political bent to the bloody fun. Aside from Homer's being killed by a "vote-flipping" machine that won't let him cast a ballot for Obama, founding father Abe Lincoln appeared ... as a gay angel.

For the details, meet me through the jump...

We first see Abe in heaven when Krusty (whom Homer accidentally murdered) shows a collection of dead celebrities what the advertising industry is doing to their likenesses. When he shows an ad for a President's Day Sale that features Lincoln and George Washington getting married and making out, George is troubled by it but Abe clearly isn't upset. Later on, when Homer is killed by the vengeful ghosts, he appears in heaven and along with Abe locks the rest of the spirits out.

The episode was typically bizarre and entertaining (for some reason the bit about the Transformer nacho machine crying cheese really cracked me up) but the "sunset ending" for Homer and Lincoln was beyond strange even for a Halloween tradition that has in the past featured killer dolls, aliens and zombie hordes.

Anyone else catch the ep? Did you think it was up to par? If you missed the special and want to check it out, it's available in its entirety over at FOX's website.

The part with Lincoln was funny...

...but overall the boyfriend and I felt that this was the worst TREEHOUSE OF  HORROR in the long, long history of THE SIMPSONS.

Personally, I felt it was so bad that the shark ToH jumped last night must've been the one from Jaws IV.

it was OK

It was a pretty mediocre Treehouse but as a long time fan, I always enjoy the Halloween specials.

It was funny, I knew they were going to play the whole gay Lincoln angle as soon as they showed the presidents...those gay Lincoln rumors will never die...but it wasnt offensive or anything.

I for some reason lost it when Lisa's stereo transformed into a tranny transformer...in my eyes at least...

The other two skits were just kind of OK.  Trans Morphers was pretty funny and creative, but they really hit gold with the Charlie Brown parody.
