In this week's Gay Agenda video blog, Jennifer Vanasco and Jon Mallow discuss recent reports that the incidence of reported hate crimes is rising. What could be the cause of this increase ... is it just that crimes of this nature are being reported more than they used to, or is the country actually becoming a more dangerous place for gays and lesbians?
Check it all out after the break!
Great teamwork, Jen & Jon
But I must say, Jon has more eyewear options than Imelda had shoes.
Okay -- now I'm going to watch your vlog. Keep up the good work.
Obviously more hate crimes are being reported now --
Less Hate equals Less Violence
It takes about Three generations (~60 years) for a new idea to be widely accepted. This can be seen with womens rights and the rights of african americans and with us as well. We are now entering the the second generation with my generations ideals taking a main front (if i may use military jargon). The people born in the 80's tend to have a more liberal view on the issues of homosexuality and people are realizing it isn't a choice we make and trying to beat it out of us just isn't going to work.
the idea is more accepted with the younger generation but not fully yet. we still have two older generations influencing us on what is right and wrong. But, with more visibility, people are realizing we aren't the evil civilization destroyer's we have been made out to be. thus the title to my post.
We are also less embarassed about being gay so we are more likely to report something as it is and not hide away. So i would say it is both being reduced but also increasing in reported incidence. One is just happening more than the other.
