On this week's Gay Agenda, Jennifer Vanasco and John Polly speculate on what will be next for Hillary Clinton if she doesn't get the Democratic presidential nomination. Governor? Senate majority leader? Queen?
Plus: How she opened the door for a future female president ... will she get the credit she deserves? Or is it kind of like when someone who can't open a pickle jar hands it to you and then when you open it they're all, "Oh, well ... I must have loosened up for you" and you're all, "Yeah, whatever..."?
No? K.
Check it all out after the break!
No female candidates???
There are TONS of great female candidates waiting in the wings!!!! Here are just a few:
the BEST candidate:
Gov Kathleen Sebelius , a major frontrunner for Obama's VP spot (I really really think it might happen), very well-liked 2 term Gov of Kansas, if not the VP she'll probably run for Kansas Senate to take Sam Brownbacks spot. An effective, popular former governor turned senator? PERFECT for President (Michael Moore predicted in his endorsement of Obama that she will be our first female President)
For Dems theres also Governor Napolitano of AZ (who might challenge McCain for his Senate seat in the future) Senator Claire McCaskill of Missouri and tons of other female Senators. And don't forget Nancy Pelosi!!
On the GOP side keep an eye on Gov. Sarah Palin (shes might be in the running for McCain's VP spot). She's a total right-wing tool, but oh well.
Like I get that everyone
Like I get that everyone should be able to vote because this is such a close primary and the nominees are neck and neck and blah blah blah.
But is Puerto Rico going to decide who is the next Democrat to be in the general election? Nothing against Puerto Rico, but... what? (Puerto Rico please keep sending me ur mens kthnx).
Are we going to allow the people who decided that the rules which disallowed Michigan and Florida from "counting" (love you Mich and Flor! maybe, kinda and not really) to now decide that we should change those rules because it is politically exigent for one of the candidates? I'm not a stickler for rules, but damn. It seems like this a pretty monumental flipping of the script. I'd hate to see what comes next.
You are right and I agree. I think it's important to continue to reaffirm that Hillary would be an amazing President. I kinda hate that she's breaking so many boundaries and yet she's bound to lose. I'm one of those crazy Democrats who isn't stamping his feet and screaming that I'd never vote for one, if the other doesn't win. We exist. For realz. I'd vote for Hillary. I like her, I just don't like her like her.
Celebrity for political office? Nope. God forbid we validate the notion that celebrity be mistaken for credibility. It shouldn't. But I'm voting for Ronnie if it happens.
John? Jennifer? Both adorable. Either one of you could run for something and I'd vote for ya.
Palin as VP
I believe that this Palin pick could be a very good thing. Could it be that we are so stuck in our bent view of the world ( and we are bent ), that we don't see the underline good that Palin could bring. The rich don't get hurt when we raise the taxes on them, they simply lay off a few minimum wage workers to pay for it. Even JFK understood this simply concept, yet we feel that using class warfair will bring around enough angry voters to win an election. Come on people, let's stop attacking those who seek a better world, even if they don't agree with us. Let's come up with some practical truths to build a future with. like allow the consequence to fulfill its natural purpose, that is, to teach people to make better decisions. We keep coming up with social programs that only buffer the people from the consequences of their behavior. We keep coming up with ways to point the figure out there, and there is where the power goes. The only way we will even be empowered is to point the figure at our selves. "We" are the reason.........
THAT"S WHERE THE POWER IS.
Palin's popularity among the right is strong because she is a great example of taking responsibilty for where she is at and what she can do. Our party needs to understand that, then maybe, just maybe we can start to win back our base again.
