Gay men and dogs: the sequel?

We received a press release recently about a book coming out in June called WOOF! A Gay Man's Guide to Dogs. Sounds reasonable enough -- but it seemed to jog something in my memory about another gay-men-and-dogs book that had some kind of scandal around it.

Indeed, Paws and Reflect: Exploring the Bond Between Gay Men and Their Dogs was met with some resistance a few months back due to some references to inappropriate relations between master and pet.

WOOF! is being billed as a humor book, so I'm guessing that topics like bestiality will be off-the-table. But perhaps the press release could have been worded more carefully, given the recent scandal around a book with a very similar title and theme:

Focusing his "queer eye," for the dog world, author Andrew DePrisco celebrates the love affair gay men have with their canine partners in WOOF! . This satirical and over-the-top guidebook advises gay men on every aspect of selecting and enjoying the most fabulous dogs suited for them, based on their personalities, preferences, and lifestyles.

If I were to refer to my relationship with my cat as a "love affair" with a "feline partner", he'd smother me in my sleep and then spend the next week leisurely eating my face. Still, if you're a dog-lover, this might be one to check out.
