George Takei, Gavin Newsom, and others talk marriage on CBS News
Some of the most comprehensive coverage has come from CBS News, who have been running segments on the topic since yesterday morning. My favorite piece, above, features George Takei and his partner of 21 years, Brad Altman, talking to Julie Chen about why this ruling is so important. I love that they're looking forward to enjoying the "delicious agony" of wedding preparation, which I think is definitely part of the rite of passage. And here's another piece about the financial impact the ruling will have on California's tourism economy, and a third featuring San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom looking back on his groundbreaking decision to open City Hall to illegal gay weddings a few years ago. I'm just confounded by all
I'm just confounded by all the hypocrisy that comes out of the homophobes' mouths. Where in the word marriage does it imply that it is solely between a man and a woman? And how does allowing same-sex couples to marry mean that the next stop would be marrying three or more people together? The thought process is just astounding lol, they seriously sound like mental patients. Ooo it makes me so angry. And anyway George, so what if domestic partnerships are separate but equal? It's still equal for god's sake! The opposers to civil partnerships and the like piss me off as well, I mean they make it sound like the homophobes are winning. Can't we just celebrate one milestone that we have won, instead of making it out to be a step back? It's still marriage at the end of the day! But anyway, that's a separate issue here. Yay for Gay Marriage in California!
Sheesh. I must be hormonal or something...lmao.
Is it just me, or...
is George Takei and his star-trek-vulcan-wave-whatever not irritating to anyone else? on top of his constant star trek references?
i understand he's Sulu, but my word, man, give it a rest.
oh, and alos, his partner, Altman, vaguely reminds me of Victor Garber, which I find disturbing because Victor is a good-looking gentleman, and Altman not so much in my book...
