George Will's "final thought" from the Presidential address: OMG, men hug?!Gloriously bewigged ABC News correspondent George Will was asked to give a final thought regarding last night's Presidential address to Congress, and he replied, "I don't know when men started to hug each other, but hug they do, and look at that." While he was apparently trying to emphasize how President Obama is putting his money where his mouth is regarding "reaching across the aisle" to the Republicans, he came across soundling like someone who had to play a lot of one-person "catch" as a child. Apparently I'm not the only one who found his amazement that men can express affection to one another to be a bit sad, as Donna Brazile offers him his own hug shortly afterward. Let's give the bow-tied little guy a squeeze as well, shall we? 1 ... 2 ... 3 ... HUGZZZZZ!

George Will...
...is a man who wears bow ties un-ironically. I'm not even sure he'd allow his children to hug him!
I can only imagine the horror he would have felt if he could have met the Founding Fathers, men who habitually wore powder, wigs and lace, hugged each other, sometimes kissed on the cheeks and even told close friends that they "loved" them.
The bow tie stays in the picture
I think the real question is, when do men STOP hugging one another? It usually happens when they START worrying about mussing their rugs in public. As Bugs Bunny might have said, "What an imbecile; what an ultra maroon!"
"The mountain has wings."
smart dresser, too.
He was trying to imply, to his right wing listeners (the kind of folks who don't hug other men), that the only thing that (capital L) Liberal Obama is doing for the right wing is hugging them. Meanwhile, he is also trying to offer a subtle dig to Tom Colburn "the most conservative member of the Senate" who comes out of the shadows not just to shake Obama's hand but to hug him. That is a little remarkable, in that it certainly deserves a remark, something that Will has never shied from doing with his own brand of conservative snideness. This time it made Will look like the ass that he is. Glad you caught it.
