GLAAD calls for apology from "Rob, Arnie & Dawn Show" for encouraging the beating of transgender or questioning children

They should be charged with inciting hate crimes

even FOX didn't go as far as to encourage violence against GLBTs

Encouraging physical and verbal abuse of children for ANY reason is kind of sick.

Even giving those douchenozzles the benefit of the doubt that they're "only joking", only the sickest mind would think it was funny.

Screw your apology.  Call for their jobs and a fine!

Do these people not listen to the news?  How many glbt kids attempt suicide every. single. day because of this exact kind of "handling" they are recommending?

They probably thought they were being funny.  Frankly, if they lose their jobs, fine by me.  Because this kind of retarded behaviour passing for 'comedy' really needs to stop.

What they did is illegal.  It's an attempt to incite violence against a minority.  They need their asses arrested.

how I am in absolute agreement with the fact that these people have no clue as to what they stated, they obviously have no idea of the number of GLBT kids attempt suicide every single day because of this exact kind of "handling". There aren't enough words to describe the disgust I feel. Having a transgender cousin and having (that side of the) family that doesn't approve is bad enough but imagining her being beating. Urgh. I shudder to think.

To say that they are OK with gay people but not with transgender people, and then go on using the same logic that those idiot anti-gay-marriage people are using, that if you allow your boy to become a girl next he will want to become an animal... WTF!!!

An appology would NOT be enough... They should have their jobs, and look into the possiblity of getting them arrested, or at least fined.

Apology? Who are we kidding?

Apology from Rob Arnie & Dawn Show is expected to read something like:

"We are sorry if our bigoted comments hurt your feelings. We never meant to do that. What we meant to do was sell hate and bigotry at a profit. Bigots listen to our show and support our sponsors who in turn pay us every week. What we hoped to do was make some easy cash by disparaging a community we don't understand and don't like. We didn't mean to offend, but we have mouths to feed: ours. But hey, thanks for all the free publicity and again, we are sincerely sorry that you don't appreciate our humor."

If I thought hitting them with a high heel would help them, I would do it. But alas, it would have no effect on these monsters.

The fact is that they do make money from bigotry and hate. Who in Reno or Sacramento is willing to step up and stop them? Not the sponsors, for sure, because they stand to profit from the bigotry and hate as well.

Gay marriage has a "slippery slope fallout", which is the segue to "transgender movement... is so phony.", "over the plight of these people" and thier "ongoing sillyness",  Say to Transgender people: "you're a freak, weirdo at least you're an adult" "What's really sick... Allowing their very young children.. parents let them wear make up" "Clop around in a dress." "of course the kid thinks he's a girl" "When they find out this guy's really a looser.", "you're allowing people to become freaks.", "(the child's) disgusting fascination" ,"you don't want to tell a kid he's a freak because it might hurt his feelings, if my son, God forbid, if my son put on a pair of high heels, I'd probably hit him with one of my shoes.", "freakish behavior (homosexuals since ancient times)", "you dumb ass, you idiot, you are a boy, boys don't wear dresses.", "we're talking about activity that is illegal culturally, I don't care about the law.", "not to mention the harm we do to the other 99% of the children (in school) who have to see this freak job walking around in a dress."

What do these jocks predict will happen in the future? "that it will become a hate crime to point at that freak at your work and tell him he's a 'nut job.'" We can only hope.

This is coming from a dude who doesn't "believe" in peanut allergy? Or any allergy for that matter. People are making up their alergies for attention? WTF?

And why are they only considering boys who are girls (male > female), make-up & dresses, but never mention girls who are boys (F > M) and jeans and base ball? Their rage is over men who want to be women, not women who what to be men, because it is obvious that they believe that every woman wishes she were a man.

 

Cannot believe that this happened. I stopped listening after about 5 minutes because i couldnt stand to listen to them. Props to Dawn for the defending. An apology is not enough! I hate to imagine the kind of set back this could cause and the amount of people, especially younger people who this will have a major impact on their self esteem and lead them to the unimaginable. It's awful behaviour and their needs to be a consequence for them. It's downright blatent prejudism. And as for the comments about ohysically abusing them being the answer to the 'problem'as someone said, encouraging serious physical or mental abuse to a anyone ESPECIALLY CHILDREN for whatever reason is unacceptable and just plain sick and they need to be repremanded for it.

Well, I don't know them (thank God) but just look at the pix, what do you expect?  They are typical White American Trailer Trash.

This is inexcusable. They will not feel sorry for what they did, even though they ought to be so ashamed. I had to pause it half way through and take a break b/c I was getting so emotional. That "Dr." was probably just making up the fact that he was a doctor. I was getting more emotional as Dawn got more emotional, and I don't know what those callers problems were.

I think that they should offer an apolgy along with some monetary funds towards transgendered causes saying how they can't believe they were so blind to their own ignorance, and I would have them educate the public. Taking them off the air, wouldn't resolve the issue. Talking about it, and having them acknowledge their mistake is much more beneficial. However, if they come on tomorrow to address the issue, and spill out more hate, I would be inclined to think otherwise [GLAAD's website has an update stating that KRXQ will respond to the issue on air tomorrow].

How can people be so stupid and ignorant. Holy Shit. Why would anyone want to have something thrust upon them and live with idiots like them calling them freaks. God that man should have his child taken away from him. I'm going to be angry about this for days, sigh.

I live in the Sacramento area and I have thought they need to be fired for a long time now. They are really popular and several people at my work listen to them. So unfortunatly I have heard their show a couple times.

These are horrible disgusting people. They have a regular segment called 'bad news over happy music' or something like that. They play upbeat music while reading a news item that is usually about some child dying in a horrific manner. The last time I heard this they were talking about a 7 year old boy who went missing from an after school event and was later found murdered hanging on a hook in the locker room. and these IDIOTS were laughing. there is something horribly wrong with them.

 

This is so sad and disgusting, I can imagine their audience laughing with them and it makes me want to cry.

It's hard to take GLAAD seriously they "call for apologies". Empty, insulting, mocking apologies that are good for what exactly? I hope I'm totally wrong.

I'm not a hateful or vindictive person, but if there is anyone who needs shoes hurled at them then it's these hatemongerers.  To talk about reacting to children this way is downright criminal.

I didn't even make it to the part where they discussed the specific child. After about a minute of listening to their disturbingly hateful ranting about transgendered people in general, I had to turn it off. I find it deeply unsettling that something like this could make it to air, especially seeing as they had apparenbtly discussed the topic before, given some of the comments they made. Why did nobody raise a fuss the last time this happened?

Why would they need to issue an apology? Are they not allowed to express their views. I'm sure plenty of you have listened today to their broadcast online (being as you've probably for the most part never listened to them before) and think they are just covering their asses as much as possible without actually apologizing. Fact is what they have said today is true, they are some of the biggest most profit earning endorsers of multiple foundations. They never said go out and punch a child or commit an act of violence. Rob and Arnie are simply expressing the views of plenty of people in the community. Just as Dawn who opposes Rob and Arnie is expressing hers. And yeah, yeah, murder this, suicide that. You can find statistics for anything you want. Fact is, it was humor you weren't forced to listen to it. You chose to find it and you're bigoted views of anyone who opposes you or your beliefs is wrong is what the problem is. Maybe they didn't go about it in the way that you found is appropriate, however, it was completely legal and nothing about it was unethical. Oh and Dr. Rob is a character on the show, get over yourselves. 

I read about this at work, and expected it to be a 2 or 3 minute clip of ignorant joking.  I sat down to listen to it later at home and was apalled to find it was instead 20+ minutes of actual anger, and arguing.  It was deplorable, and I'm dismayed that people like this can be classed as "adults".  It makes me inexpressibly sad.

That first call you took (the guy showing his support) actually made me cry because I feel the same way. I've also listened since I was a freshman in high school and your show has gotten me through some extremely tough times over the years. I was a victim of "bullying" in high school and rob's daily words of wisdom gave me the strength to overcome and love myself. Because of your show, I began to understand that there's nothing more important than being true to myself and finding that strength from within. I certainly can't begin to comprehend the struggles of a transgendered child...I was merely a bisexual atheist in a very conservative high school.

But I digress. It would be awful AWFUL if the rob arnie and dawn show were shut down. I don't really think that could happen but still the prospect is horrifying. We need you guys.

And by the way...I don't agree with what was said about transgendered people. not at all. i was listening to that segment while doing dishes and--in an arnie like move--i threw down a salad plate in rage at one of arnie's comment (ironic). but never for a second did i want rob or arnie silenced or taken off the air. yes, i wish you didn't feel the way you do. i wish these opinions didn't exist. but goddammit it's your right to say it.

and frankly, the LGBT community of all groups people should comprehend this. saying that rob arnie and dawns opinions will lead to hate crimes makes as much sense as saying that gay is contagious or gay adoption leads to more gay children. these are the sort of arguments that piss us off so much...well it works both ways people. do you mean it as i do when you preach tolerance over and over? or are you just full of shit. i don't think people actually believe rob and arnie are endorsing hate crimes that's so absurd...people are angry because rob and arnie have an opinion that they don't approve of.
