God Bless BBC America: Torchwood headed Stateside

Yes, folks -- there is a God, and she loves John Barrowman as much as Michael does we do.

BBC America announced today that they are adding Torchwood (the Dr. Who spinoff based around Barrowman's bisexual Captain Jack Harkness character) to their Saturday evening lineup, starting later this year. The impressive Supernatural Saturday program already includes Hex, Life on Mars, and Dr. Who, and will gain both Torchwood and Jekyll, starring James Nesbitt.

They'll also be bringing us teen soap Hollyoaks (which has some gay bits), the new Jennifer Saunders comedy The Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle, and -- last, but certainly not least -- season five of the ever-fabulous Footballers Wives, which features none other than Alexis Carrington herself, Joan Collins.

The press release credits the changes in the schedule to new head honcho Garth Ancier, an out gay man who used to head up the similarly gay-friendly WB. We featured Ancier in a piece we did a few months back on powerful gay men in Hollywood. It would appear that he's looking out for us!

Here's a big "Hip! Hip!" and a "He's a jolly good fellow" to Ancier for his programming prowess and his new position. Long live the ... er ... new head of BBC America!

And here is a clip of what you have to look forward. This is from Torchwood's season finale and is one of the best same-sex kisses you'll see in TV this year.
