Golden Globes megapost: We are choke you with red carpets

Last night the Golden Globes made their big return to the collective consciousness after hibernating during 2008 in Billy Bush's hair. The stars were out, the booze was clearly flowing freely, and the event overall was not an absolute disaster thanks to a few standout moments, but overall nothing terribly special.

After the break we've got some great shots of some of the gay and gay-fave guests ... with pithy commentary! Plus, our favorite moments of the night, in handy bite-sized form.

Join us!

Favorite Moments: Ricky Gervais' presenting with a beer and telling Kate Winslet that he knew a Holocaust film would bag her a Globe, and Tracy Morgan's acceptance speech for 30 Rock. And who could not love Winslet referring to Angelina Jolie as "the other one" in her second (completely annoying) acceptance speech?

Biggest WTF?: Can anyone tell me who the eff Rebecca Hall is? She was nominated for Best Actress, wasn't there, and wasn't even in the clip they showed of her best picture-nominated movie, Vicki Cristina Barthelona. Does this woman even exist?!

Begrudges: I honestly didn't expect NPH to win, but I didn't expect him to lose to Tom Wilkinson for a miniseries. Shouldn't they really break the supporting actors out into separate categories? Plus, as much as I wanted Sean Penn to win for Milk, I thought Mickey Rourke was amazing in The Wrestler, and let's face it, he needs it more.

Hey, He Can Talk!: Most impressive speeches: Colin Ferrell, Steven Spielberg, Danny Boyle (yay, Slumdog!) and of course Christopher Nolan, for giving an acceptance speech that no director should ever have to give, for the late, great Heath Ledger.

Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall from Dexter, who are also freshly married! (for the Showtime-averse, David Fisher and Emily Rose just got hitched)

It was a historic night for Kate Winslet, who won both best actress (drama) and best supporting actress

The cast of True Blood, including winner Anna Paquin and Nelsan Ellis (at an afterparty)

Zachary Quinto

Rutina Wesley of True Blood

True Blood's Ryan "Recognize Me With Clothes?" Kwanten

It was a historic night for another reason: A less-than-perfect pic of Jon Hamm

Renee Zellweger and the hardest working nipple-tape in Hollywood

Sally Hawkins won for Happy-Go-Lucky. That's great, but I'd be Happy-If-She'd-Go-Eat-a-Sandwich.

I can never tell which is the lucky one: Kate Beckinsale or hubby Len Wiseman

Okay, we forgive you for Alexander.

Okay, am I the only one who didn't realize that Jonathan from Buffy (Danny Strong) wrote Recount?!

Hey, a gay! Rex Lee with his Entourage co-stars.

Best actor Mickey Rourke

Best actress Anna Paquin

True Blood's Sam Trammell and some obstacle

Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore are really milking the Grey Gardens thing, huh?

Glenn Close wore pants. PANTS. Awesome.

Blair Underwood, a nom for playing sorta-gay in In Treatment

True Blood's Stephen Moyer
