Guillermo Diaz guest stars on tonite's Cane
I've always been a big fan of Guillermo Diaz, a gay actor who has managed to play just about every kind of character you can imagine, gay or straight, over the last few decades. He's probably best known as playing Scarface in the cult fave pot comedy Half Baked (where he co-starred with Dave Chappelle, upon whose show Diaz also appeared several times), but gay auds will no doubt remember his star turn as a feisty drag queen in the period drama Stonewall or as Parker Posey's lovable DJ roommate in Party Girl ("Imitate a cat puking...").
If you haven't checked out the new rum-and-sugar soap yet (er ... I know I haven't) and are looking for something to give you that nudge, Guillermo's guest spot tonight is it. We interviewed the actor a few years back, if you'd like to read more. Submitted by on Tue, 2007-11-27 14:48. |

love him!!!
Everyday you learn something more
Ok, I'm so worn out from finding out about Wanda S. being a lesbian but now to only now find out that Guillermo is gay is mind blowing to me because I remember him in 'Half Baked' and there was a movie (I can't remember ) that he did with Alexis Arquette back in the day and before Alexis became the transgender goddess that she is now. The movie that I can't remember was so cute and co starred another incredible cute actress and one of my favorites, Lauren Velez from another Latin classic with some gay and transgender storylines 'I Like It Like That'.
I thought that Guillermo was funny but in my mind he was straight not gay, it just goes to show me and everyone else that gay people come in every shape, color and size.
I have to be completely honest and say that finding out that he wasn't just gay but single is so depressing because between him and John Leguizmo ( I know I spelled it wrong), these were the guys that just reminded me of the chuloes(cute guys) that I fell in love with around my own barrio (neighborhood), when I was growing up and even now I see some of the hottest Latin men, in my own backyard but many of them are off-limits, at least to me. The guys I grew up with and around my area are Latino men that are 'oh so' fabulous. Like Ricky Martin but a bit rough around the edges and not so innocent and clean cut. It seems they were extremely funny, smart and full of Latino pride, which I love. Extra loud, extra cocky at times but some of the most sensitive and sweet men you ever want to meet. I know in every nationally there are these kind of guys but I grew up in a area that is 60 to 70 % Latino so you know I see Papi Chuloes all day and all night. It seems these guys love their family and heritage, good music and good food and when I think of Guillermo and John, they also represent that kind of Latin men, that I love and adore. I have to put this out there and I know it's wrong but these guys are a bit short in stature, which a man can't be and shouldn't be measured by his height. I know that being short doesn't mean a thing because where it counts, is where they are large than ever and of course you know I'm talking about their 'hearts' and their minds (wink, wink).
Funny enough, just today I found one of my first season DVD of the Chapelle show, which I think David C. got a bit of sugar in his tank but maybe that is my wishful thinking because I love a man that can make me laugh and David is funny. Guillermo and another one of my crushes that now I don't feel so bad about saying it because you never know who is gay or straight in Hollywood. It seems that I always thought that Michael Rapport ( I know I spelled it wrong) but along with being a fan of hot Latin men, I love red haired boys. Don't tell me or joke on me because my taste is crazy and from one end of the spectrum to the other. Michael R. was in 'Higher Learning, Zebra Head' and a couple other things. He is another character actor who normally plays that thugged out, white guy but he does in a way that is so believable. It seems him and the beautiful and talented Guillermo was on the actually first sketch of the Chappelle show. Guillermo is sexy and I just realizing that he is a multi-talented actor because I wasn't sure if that was him in StoneWall when I saw it a few years back but I got a chance to check out again and he was fabulous in. I realized that there is more than meets the eye, when it comes down to him. God, I'm starting to love Hollywood more and more.
