Gay florists to the rescue in "I Hate Valentine's Day"!

A romantic comedy opens in limited release next weekend that looks to offer a double-dip of gay BFF-age: I Hate Valentine's Day reunites My Big Fat Greek Wedding stars Nia Vardalos and John Corbett but it also features out actor Stephen Guarino (The Big Gay Sketch Show) and Amir Arison as two gay florists and emotional buttresses to Vardalos's central character.

If Arison looks familiar, you may recognize him as "FBI Agent" from four episodes of As the World Turns last year. Elaine — to my archives!

Not just gay florists...

...gay florists who screech and lisp. How unique. This should be ground-breaking and really push the envelope of what movie goers expect gay men to be.

Valentine's Day ... in July

Wow. That's some awesome marketing for ya. A movie with Valentine's Day in the title that's being released in July!

Looks totally lame. Including the gays. But I'm not going to get too down on them. Obviously the gays have to support Nia -- they really need the healthcare her shitty flower business provides...

Ah, yes. The 5 date rule.

What does anything in that trailer have to do with Valentine's Day? Nothing! In fact, there wasn't even a mention of it! And, it's coming out in the middle of the summer!

Still. I wonder if it will end up being one of those wonderful movies you sit around eating hagen das and watching in secret on rainy friday nights where everyone you know is working/traveling/having more fun than you.

Well, I'll be working at a theater that has it. It'll be interesting to see who comes in to see it.

Wait...

Didn't Vardalos have another movie released a few weeks ago - something set in Greece? I hadn't realized her box office track record warranted two of her romcoms being released into theaters a month apart.
