Heroes' Zack: Nope, still gay.

Heroes is one of my favorite shows, but this disappoints me quite a bit.  I remember reading something about this a while back.  The actor's (Thomas Dekker) agent didn't want him 2 play gay roles because it would (supposedly) tarnish his image.  Does anyone else find this weird?  Since when does an unknown actor or their agent have the power 2 control or influence what a network does with their character's storylines.  If that was how Hollywood worked then no one would ever get killed-off and shows would never be cancelled.

I also find it kinda ironic that one of the themes in Heroes is being different from the majority.  In the beginning I thought Zach would B openly gay and that was how his and Claire's relationship would florish because he would understand what it feels like 2 B different (and she really needed that at the time).  This would've been a beautiful relationship (and storyline) between the 2 characters.  And it would've been a very different take on a Will & Grace kinda friendship.

I don't know if this was the actor's choice, but the article I read said it was his agent's doing.  Either way I just don't think unknown actors should be choosey with their roles especially since their R so many willing actor's waiting tables all over Hollywood.  And it's been a while since playing gay hurt anyone's career (that I know of).  Unless the actor's really gay and they're afraid it'll shine through.  If that's the case then he must not B a very good actor.

I just think that this is a very cowardly career choice.  That could've been a really cool gay role and I want more gays in Sci-Fi since that's what I'm into.  Even if it was his agent's action I say get a new agent.  Well I'm not letting them off the hook.  Heroes has until the end of the season (extra time due 2 writers strike) 2 either out Zach completely in the graphic novels or introduce a new gay character (preferably one with powers, lesbians okay too), otherwise I won't be back 4 the third season (I mean it NBC).  And I'm officially boycotting Dekker's new show "Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles" in which he has a starring role.  Who's with me?

"Heroes" is just getting annoying with the gay thing.  You can blame Dekker or his agent for the Zach fiasco, but then we were told there was going to be a lesbian cheerleader friend for Claire this season. Then, oops, that plot mysteriously vanished, too. If "Heroes" had never made any pretense about having gay and lesbian characters, it might actually be easier to take.  But this constant "here's a gay character, wait, not so fast" routine from the show is getting pretty darn obnoxious and insulting.  This show has about 800 characters at this point, anyway.  There's not even any real need to cast anyone new.  Just choose someone who's comfortable playing gay or lesbian and out 'em.  Heck, just have George Takei show up as Hiro's dad's gay identical twin.  There. Problem solved.
