Gareth David-Lloyd and John Barrowman
An enterprising (wait, that's the wrong sci-fi series, isn't it...) blogger named smirnoffmule had camera at the ready at a recent Torchwood convention and reveals that when the randy omnisexual alien-hunters are off-screen ... they're just as randy and omnisexual.
Lots more ... um ... stimulating pics after the jump. (huge t/y to Tessa for the tip!)
Seriously, this is pretty crazy. I mean, we're used to seeing John Barrowman (Captain Jack) and Gareth David-Lloyd make out in character, but for them to make out twice at the convention ... and then to pull Gwen's husband Rhys into it?
Yowzah!
Kai Owen, Gareth David-Lloyd and Barrowman
Enjoy, and check out the source for lots more.

Oh. My.
That´s it. From now on I don't care how much the show can on occation suck. There is only love.
!!!
In true Sci-Fi fashion, the first thing that popped into my mind was "I'll be in my bunk."
My Gods, I love this show. (and the stars!)
craziness....
Yes, it's hot, but...
Gareth David-Lloyd had better take care, people are sure to talk. In character same-sex smoochies are one thing, but out of character kisses - well that's a different animal entirely. What was it that happened between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie? hmm.
impression...
i get the impression that Gareth is pretty damn comfortable in his own skin. I bet someone yelled out for them to kiss or something and so they did. I don't think it means anything other than them giving the fans something to go nuts over. they both probably know the popularity of their onscreen coupling.
...and so far, i haven't seen anyone ''talking'' about it in that way.
I don't imagine Gareth
I don't imagine Gareth would care a jot if people did speculate on his sexuality, and as a British actor, it won't hurt his career anyway - lots of British actors are openly gay and it has no come back for them, as it shouldn't. I for one applaud him (and Kai Owen) for being so cool and comfortable with his own sexuality that he feels able to do stuff like this. In context, it's entirely clear they were joking around anyway - one kiss was scripted into the skit, and the others took place off the cuff (so to speak) during the very innuendo-ridden and bawdy Q & A sessions.
Gareth is extremely secure
I am not much for sci-fi
But as Betty Everett sang, ITS IN HIS KISS. I hope there was serious tongue action there. Now are you listening to all I say.
INSIDEGUY
Speechless.
OH MY GOD!
Christmas came early for me today! All the kissing pictures are super hot. That picture of Gareth David-Lloyd in his underwear made me stop breathing.
I hope a video clip appears on youtube soon. So freaking hot!!!!
Hot hot hot
I can't believe it ! They're really the only ones who would dare to do that just for the fans ! I love them so much !
And the more I see those the more I'm desperate to go on a Torchwood convention ! ! !
I love these pics as much as
Pics were allowed
Hi Brian,
IMHO all coverage of Torchwood is good coverage so YAY for reporting the Barrowmany naughtiness that went on at The Hub last weekend. I'm an online friend of the blogger smirnoffmule and she wanted to make sure everyone knew that she didn't break the rules. Still photos were allowed at The Hub they just asked fans to refrain from using any video recording devices.
Thanks for the comment
John Barrowman asked us
John Barrowman asked us all not to video the skit, on the grounds the BBC might not be too impressed and it might jeopardize their freedom to attend similar events in the future, but he said he didn't mind people taking stills. The stewards did ask everyone to lower their cameras for the piece, just because they can't tell who's filming and who's taking stills and they wanted to make very sure no one was filming. So in that respect it was a tiny bit sneaky of me to grab a few shots, but I didn't violate John's request - and wouldn't have. Taking stills of the rest of the event was entirely allowed.
Sorry to be fussy, but I have tremendous respect for the actors involved here, and I really appreciate the effort they made to give us all such a good weekend. It also made my day to get my pics on AE, since it's one of my favourite sites. Thanks Brian!
I hear ya
question....
"John Barrowman asked us all not to video the skit, on the grounds the BBC might not be too impressed and it might jeopardize their freedom to attend similar events in the future"
^ they're allowed to make out with each other and drop their pants and have their photos taken of all that...but they can't be videotaped? is it a matter of what they SAY that might not impress the BBC? i don't know what the skit was about, so i can only assume it was really raunchy/possibly offensive...???
Well, it was, but I don't
Well, it was, but I don't think that was the problem - it's more that they were basically taking the mickey out of the hand that feeds them. It was an affectionate parody, but an unsanctioned one at that. The actors can behave how they like in public, since the BBC doesn't own them, but the BBC does own Torchwood, so when they're acting in character, they're using a BBC product.
Honestly, I don't know the ins and outs of the legalities, but I do know the whole TW cast are just great to their fans, and if they ask one little bit of respect and maturity in return, I think they should get it, no matter what their reasoning.
ah, i get it...
I didn't know that they were in character for the skit
"but I do know the whole TW cast are just great to their fans, and if they ask one little bit of respect and maturity in return, I think they should get it, no matter what their reasoning..."
^ oh yeah, agreed. ;-)
In the minority
I know I'm in the minority on this, but is there anyone else out there in AE land who finds Barrowman to be the height of annoyance. Everything I read about him, and everytime I see him it gives me a migraine, possibly from the teeth grating he induces. I'm a big Dr. Who fan, but he makes it impossible for me to watch Torchwood.
I know we're supposed to be all love and kisses for out performers, but his entire professional persona, with all it's ribald antics, just makes him seem like the gay Austin Powers to me. Everything about him just screams "Do I make you randy?".
One big "Ugh" from this corner.

To each his own.
true
I'm not saying people can't like him. I'm certainly aware of how grating it is when some people constantly show up in certain threads just to bitch. Such as the ATWT threads.
It's just that it appears to me that absolutely all of the coverage of Barrowman and all the following comments have been so fauning (fawning?) that I was wondering if something was wrong with me as I seemed to be the only person at all that had a dissenting opinion.
www.thebittersuite.blogspot.com
It's not so much his personality...
....that I have a problem with. He is very boisterous and fun loving. What I have a problem with is the raunchy things he says over and over. I have heard the same off colour stories in dozens of interviews he has done. I have often thought that it is the "class clown" syndrome. He is covering awkwardness by being overly jokey and filthy. I am sure his lovely husband has cringed at some of the things he has said in public.
But, that said, I still think he has the most gorgeous face I have ever seen. I know, how shallow of me. And the fact that he is so good to his fans, his family, and his chosen charities, I can overlook his filthy mouth.
I say we take the warning labels off everything and let nature take it's course.
agree and disagree
5 stars for the first paragraph...in total agreement there.
Sorry, but John does nothing for me. Zilch. Nada. I know he's a good looking guy, and I really love the character of Captian Jack, but John the actor ---or maybe its just his repeating this raunchy schtick over and over again --- I can live without.
Really feel sorry for his partner. Except for the civil partnership day photos, in most of the shots Scott really looks uncomfortable being in the public spotlight. (over at the celeb boyfriend thread).
There's no need to feel sorry for Scott Gill.
While hel is famously publicity-shy, he's become much more comfortable with it in recent years. When John signed with Gavin Barker's agency, Gavin was very up front about wanting to turn John and Scott into a positive role model for gay couples. Scott agreed to appearing in the spotlight for that reason. I doubt he'll ever be as comfortable with it as John is, but hardly anyone on the planet is as comfortable with it as John is.
In Scott's rare speaking appearances he's proved quite capable of holding his own and of taking the mickey out of John. He has, after all, had 16 years to practice. And he's pleased with John's current career path since TV acting means John is home more often than when he was in the theatre.
FTR I adore John Barrowman's looks, his charm, his work and everything about him except his occassionally raunchy mouth. But I just avoid his appearances on adult-rated variety programs. His behavior always stays within the bounds of his audience. If it's one of his numerous children's programs, he's the soul of discretion. If it's PG-rated, he's slightly saucy. If you don't want to hear him engage in R-rated talk, don't watch him on R-rated talk shows. It's that simple.
I'm going to come out of the closet
John Barrowman not only annoys me, he makes my skin crawl. I totally admire him for being out and living his life his own way--we all should do that--but his personality really, really turns me off. He's like a loud, overbearing horndog.
But, hey, to each his own.

Yep I'd say you're in the
Yep I'd say you're in the minority but each to their own.
I think John is fun, and a complete professional.
I don't think he's the best actor in the world but he's bright, enthusiastic and a real tonic in these gloomy days.
I've met him twice and he's charming and great to his fans, even on his wedding day he had time for everyone.
Now, if you'll excuse me I'm going for a lie down in a dark room.
I definitely agree, I kow
I definitely agree, I kow there is a lot of reason why people would not like him, he can be overwhelming and over the top and it's true he's always somewhere, you can't really avoid him.
I would probably hate other celebrities to be that way, but John Barrowman has something more, can't really tell what, but it's totally impossible for me to dislike him, he just brightens my day everytime I see him or something about him. And it's not even because he's hot (believe it or not ^^), I find him handsome and charming but not that hot (Gareth is definitely more my type !).
Barrowman over kill
Congratulations Brock Savage...you came out and said what i've wanted to admit for sometime, but the praise and coverage on this site for Barrowman is so huge that I felt intimidated, so I kept my mouth shut...until now.
I find Barrowman to be so over the top and unclassy in his antics. And I don't want to sound like a prude, but the man is so sexually explicit most of the time when he speaks it's cring worthy and just turns me off. A common potty mouth to say the least. He also comes off as though he has an ego the size of Mount Everest. John...you're not that important!!
Oh...and here's where i'm really in the minority...I so don't find him attractive. He's not ulgy by any means, but when I look at his face I just see some ordinary Joe. Yet the man acts as though he is the finest looking male walking the planet...Please!!
john barrowman
In terms of social graces, John Barrowman is like a hyperactive, eager puppy, who just wants to please, trapped in the body of a wild rhinocerous. He just doesn't seem to realise that he could break your legs when he jumps in your lap to beg for treats.
I can't quite work myself upto being offended by him because he really does come accross as being harmless and friendly. I've only ever gotten annoyed a couple of times, but he wasn't being lewd at the time, just a little mean (in my opinion). But, at hear, I think he's a kind person. I was looking him up youtube and I saw a clip where James Marsters described him as the most sensitive maniac you'll ever meet.
SDCC Comic Con
I was at the San Diego comic con and had a chance to meet both Gareth David-Lloyd and John Barrowman. Gareth was so very pleasant, smiles and genuinely nice. I have to say I was really looking forward to seeing John in person, but have to say I was disappointed, it may have been the venue, but he was not very friendly or pleasant more on the cold and bitchy side, but again that was my experience and could have been that venue. But he isn't on my favorites list after that.

Gareth is soooo cute.
I kinda agree that John can be over the top sometimes. But that's him. Doesn't affect me personally.
The kisses are great and HOT!! They just had a ball! Good stuff!
Thanks for bringing the pics to all of the fans on AE. You deserve a big fat kiss too!
So, for the Series 3 min-series...
...Jack and Ianto will break up due to Ianto and Rhys becoming a couple, freeing up Gwen to finally get with Jack.
I find it hard to dislike Barrowman. While he is often over-the-top, he also makes a point to frequently say how grateful he is to all the fans that keep him employed. When compared with the way a lot of American celebs strut around acting like aristocrats whose existence we peasants should be grateful for I'd say he's not such a bad guy.
Fictional Character Bashing versus Actual Human Being
Geez have folks not heard the "if you can't say something nice..." saying?
I COMPLETELY ADORE JOHN BARROWMAN AND EVEYTHING HE STANDS FOR. okay, full disclosure out of the way.
But fellow posters, has somebody been passing out free pitchers of Iced HaterAide Cocktails? Seriously.
No one is forced to like John Barrowman (even here on AE), watch his movies/tv show, read his books or listen to him sing or say nice things about him.
You don't even have to read the post if you already know how annoyed he makes you feel.
But does a post celebrating his appearance at an event for fans seem like the appropriate place to talk about how much he grates on your nerves?
Why go out of your way to write mean stuff about the man?
He's only like the outest out celebrity I've ever seen (and much bigger in the UK then here in the U.S.) so I'm sure the straight media and blog posters/commentors are taking care of barrowman-bashing that just fine without our help.
Of course one has the the right to say whatever they want but just because one CAN say whatever they want, doesn't mean they HAVE to. Unless folks just want to be catty and mean for the sole pleasure of doing so.
I'm not picking on any particular individual. To each is own for sure.
I generally just avoid (as someone said earlier) any posts about things or people that bug me or don't interest me.
It seems to me the John Barrowman (unlike a lot of famous gay folks) hasn't ACTUALLY done anything mean to individual people (and no, I don't count being in a bad mood at 1 event as being mean).
It also seems that he ACTUALLY does a lot that is very good and right for and within the gay community (here and abroad).
So do we really want this to become a "reasons why I just can't stand john barrowman" party?
I'm just saying, maybe there's a better place for that kind of commentary:
"i_hate_john_barrowman_with_a_passion_that_knows_no_end.livejournal.com" ; "john_barrowman_gives_me_a_migraine.blogspot.org", "john_barrowman_is_a_blight_on_humanity.blogger.net" "http://facebook.com/john_barrowman_is_a_foul-mouthed_uncouth_ham.
It reached a critical mass with this thread
Clearly, there's several of us who aren't the biggest fans of Barrowman, and I suspect something about this, the 1,000,000th thread about Barrowman, and about him macking all over the other guys in those photos, just prodded those of us in the minority to finally admit how we feel.
And I'd bet Barrowman himself would be the first to say that the phrase "If you have nothing nice to say..." is such a hypocritical notion. He never censors himself. So don't try to censor us.

John (and Gareth) Rule!... Proof?...New THE HUB YouTube vids
John's affinity for explicitness and his "potty mouth" are two of his most endearing qualities. His classically beautiful face is just the icing on the cake. I defy anyone to watch the video clips, posted today on YT by yantogurl, of this event and tell me they aren't the funniest, sexiest bits ever seen at one of these conventions. John's the leader of this little band of oversexed monsters and F#@k if his fans don't adore him for it!

Oh our boys know what the fans want! I'll be in my bunk...
I want to be a hero like Captain Jack Harkness, kicking butt and snogging anything with a pulse! Besides, then I get a sexy receptionist of my very own. And no one would mess with me because I can kill them creatively.
JB and Gareth...
They're still up to these antics... I happened upon this picture today. I imagine John saying something to the respect of, "Hey, look! Paparazzi! Let me lick your ear!"
Poor GDL. He looked half-amused, half embarrassed.

John Barrowman & Gareth....
sometime i think they have a feeling for each other.(who knows?)because sometime we do not know that is a act or not.....
But anyway,i like they both in Torchwood series and they really a perfect pairng for this tv series.
JB can kiss anything and make it look hot.
Naw...
I can see why one might think that, but from what I know abnout both of them, John's just being his typical attention-craving self and Gareth just goes along with it because he doesn't give a fuck.
