Homophonic video blog (Ep. 9): Our Lady J
Our Lady J is a woman on a musical mission of biblical proportions. This week on Homophonic, she takes her heavenly throne next to Alex on the couch for a revival of some of her most popular works on stage and a look into the future of her special brand of catechism. From her humble (though no less divine) beginnings as a pianist and composer at a conservatory for prodigy teens through her time as an accompanist for the most famous dance companies in the world to her foot-stomping, crowd-moving "Gospel Revivals" of edgy Out music, Our Lady J teaches Alex and Lee a little something about redemption. When she's not orchestrating her songs for a 16-piece chorus and making true believers out of New York's most skeptical audiences, just what is the Lady up to? Planning her first European tour, of course! All this plus a live performance of a jaunty new track called "Timid Song" right here in the homostudio. Get your fill of salvation, Lady J style, after the jump! Submitted by on Mon, 2008-07-21 08:54. |

WOW.
She's AMAZING! And beautiful! LOVED her song at the end, and she must be unbeatable live! Another great one, guys!
Best,
J.
P.S.: Alex was TOTALLY fan-gushing over her, that was hilarious! :D

Our Lady J - Live!
Thanks, James!
Yeah, it's fun to watch Our Lady J and Alex on the couch, but her live performances are mind-blowing. And, yes, he's been gushing over her for weeks now... ;)
If you're in the NY area, you can catch her show at the Zipper Factory this Wednesday (7/23) (and again in August). We'll be keeping up with her on the Homophonic site, so if she's coming to a city near you, we'll let you know!

Unfortunately...
...I don't live in the US, Lee, but, man, I'd LOVE to see one of her performances! But I'll keep up with her via the interwebs, until I get the change to see her live and become a full-fledged convert!
Best,
J.
P.S.: Hey, why haven't you guys posted here that YouTube video of you singing? I stumbled upon it by accident, and thought it was awesome, man!

Our Lady J Overseas (and me?)
Thanks again, James!
I think Our Lady J will be in Europe soon, so perhaps she'll take over the rest of the world thereafter?
The video you saw of me was a result of our testing some equipment before subjecting other musicians to our studio. Thanks for the kind words! I don't think we'll be featuring ourselves as Homophonic guests any time soon, but if any AfterElton people are listening and need content... ;)
We've been focusing on Homophonic lately, but you can hear more of our (mine and Alex's) music on MySpace or on our site. We'll be uploading some new tracks there soon, but we've got about six months of demos up now.

Busted!
I am so busted on this one James. I tend to gush a wee bit on all the artists that come through because I love this stuff...I love music, I love brave out musicians.
But come on! A classically trained composer who went from child prodigy to high-heel kicking gospel Diva??
I'm a disciple!

"I walk with dignity. I step with pride."
She's hella awesome!
When I grow up....
I want to be like Lady J!
Alex, I'll join you in the gushing darling! How else does one react to such a fabulous woman, and equally fantastic musician?
Love her music, love her style!
Good luck with the European tour Lady J, they're gonna be all over you!
Thanks for another great episode Homophonic!
