"I Love You Phillip Morris" features trademark Jim Carrey hilarity, only with more "graphic gay sex"
Whoa! Gotta say I didn't quite expect to see this in the first report to come out of Sundance and last night's screening of the Jim Carrey/Ewan McGregor gay prison romance I Love You Phillip Morris: "The 100 minutes is one of the most unusual mixtures of the fest -- moments of Carrey's branded hilarity opposite brutal prison culture and graphic gay sex. Requa said they'll put some even hotter cut scenes on the DVD extras." <ace ventura voice>Oh reeeeeeeaaaaaaaally?</ace ventura voice> In addition to that little tidbit comes some encouragement that Carrey has been through his Big Gay Role media training, as he responds to the "OMGWHAT'SITLIKETOKISSAGUY?" standby by noting that it was "a dream come true" to have McGregor play his lover, noting, "I mean, just look at the guy!" Which was followed by the somewhat odd, "Hard to let go of it, though," which I'm going to chalk up to being lost in translation, at this point. McGregor, who has played gay several times before, responded to the "gay" questions by saying that it was "same as playing any other kind of man. It was never awkward to kiss or cuddle." Ummm, That was Ewan, not Carrey
I just read the original article you linked to, and the "Same as playing any other kind of man." quote was by Ewan:
Carrey, on the other hand, followed that up with a much more juvenile followup to that classy quote:
Don't give Carrey more credit than he deserves. He obviously skipped out on his Big Gay Role media training.
Aaaahhhhh they got me
So, any jokey comment at all
Variety loved the movie...

Less of a comedy than a hilarious tragedy, "I Love You Phillip Morris" stars Jim Carrey in his most complicated comedic role since "The Cable Guy" and as a character so criminal and gay it will leave auds both laughing and stunned. The rawness of the script by helmers Glenn Ficarra and Jon Requa and sexual bluntness of Carrey and Ewan McGregor's onscreen romance could limit the film's exposure, but curiosity about Carrey's "conversion" will be a big draw. And no one can say that all involved weren't swinging for the fences.
Variety is out with a review
Carrey's style
It seems like Carrey's typical humor. "hard to let go of it." could be teasing McGregor's status as The Hot Scott. But it also works as sarcasm, because we know Carry's straight, but the humor wouldn't be there unless we beleived there some essential irony: that he might actually enjoy cuddling with McGregor. I applaud Carry for that, it's a line of humor that Leno or Letterman would never take.

Rowrrrr....
...and just so you know....it's blasphemous to call a kilt a skirt....
I say we take the warning labels off everything and let nature take it's course.
