Isaiah Washington's PSA to premiere tonight

We got a note from GLAAD this morning letting us know that the PSA that Isaiah Washington filmed during the fallout of the "F-word" incident on the Grey's Anatomy set will air tonight during back-to-back episodes of the show. Washington filmed the ad after meeting with GLAAD and the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN) and apologized for his use of the slur.

We got a sneak peek at the PSA, which is very simple and to-the-point, featuring Washington speaking in front of a blank background (see the above screencap). Washington's script reads as follows:

Words have power. The power to express love, happiness and joy. They also have the power to heal. When you use words that demean a person because of their sexual orientation, race or gender, you send a message of hate. A very powerful message. But we all have the power to demand better from one another and from ourselves. We have the power to heal and change the world by the words we use.

Can't really argue with that, can we? But I would be remiss not to ask a tiny, annoying question: airing the PSA the week after the finale? During two reruns? *sigh*... well, it's certainly good to have on the air, regardless of when it runs.

As we noted the other day, things are up in the air in terms of who is coming back next season and in what capacity. So while the PSA is undoubtedly a good thing in the big picture, in the case of what went down on the show's set it might be a Band-Aid on a sharkbite.
