It's official: The Noah's Arc movie is on its way
A little bird who nests at Logo (AfterElton's parent company) just gave us word that the gay network has officially greenlit a movie based on the fan-favorite gay show Noah's Arc, which told the story of a group of gay African-American friends navigating life and love in the city. Despite being a groundbreaking show for visibility of gay men (and further, gay men of color), the show was canceled after two seasons, leaving its fans unsure of what happened with the boys. Looks like we're going to find out! The film's working title is Noah's Arc: Jumping the Broom (I guess a shark was too dangerous?) and we're told it is a wedding-themed film (they won't tell us whose wedding...) that will pick up where the series left off at the cliffhanger season finale. Production begins in March and newly-out lead Darryl Stephens (Noah), Doug Spearman (Chance), Rodney Chester (Alex) and Christian Vincent (Ricky) are set to return, with other casting to be announced soon. Series creator Patrik-Ian Polk had this to say about the announcement: "I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to take this cult hit TV show to the big screen. With the exception of the many 70's hit shows to get the film treatment, very few television series get to make the move to movie theatres. It's a bold experiment, but I've come to expect nothing less from the MTV Networks/Logo brand. And I look forward to continuing the funny and dramatic sagas of Noah and his friends as we pick up where we left off in the dramatic second season cliffhanger. It's been a little wait for the fans, but I promise they won't be disappointed. 'Jumping The Broom' definitely takes this story to the next level in a big way.” Logo President Brian Graden had this to say: "We're proud that our first flagship series will now be Logo's first original movie. Logo and the show’s fans have been with Noah and his friends from the beginning and we're excited to see that Patrik-Ian Polk will be continuing their stories on the big screen." But that's not all: Polk and Stephens also wanted to deliver the news in person via a special video message just for AfterElton.com readers. Check it out below! WE LOVE NOAH'S ARC!!
I'm so freakin totally absolutely excited about this!
We were so bummed when the show didn't get picked up for a third season! And I'm sorry folks... Dante's Cove got a third season but Noah's didn't??? [mouth agape] oh my GOSH what is WRONG with Hollywood and us gays?!!! Come ON.
Hopefully the movie will get rabid support among our community--regardless of what color we are. A story about gay men getting a shot like this--it's truly very exciting.
Congrats P-I and all the actors on the show!

There are unwatchable shows, and...
then there's DANTE'S COVE. Would someone please explain the appeal of that show? It's got full-frontal nudity and it's still too incredibly boring/ridiculous to watch.
I agree, NOAH'S ARC wasn't perfect, but it was fun (Season 1 was better than Season 2, however).

Yay! Great news! It has been
Could it be...Noah and Wade?
Ok yeah, this is the romantic part in me coming out (see my other post) but wouldn't it be wonderful if Noah and Wade ended up making a commitment like that. They SO love each other.
YES, Chance and Eddie love each other and had their wedding altho it was interrupted by all that drama.
And YES, Alex and Trey love each other and are even planning to adopt.
But there's just something about the electricity of Noah and Wade. I don't know. I feel love for my partner in ways represented in the relationship between all 3 couples but I relate most to the intensity of the chemistry between N&W.
Hm.
Or maybe Ricky will shock us all and finally commit to someone! LOL

It's About TIme...
Yes, this is great!! I cannot believe they had even cancelled the show. It was awesome and I anxiously awaited a new season. I hope Wade didn't die but time will tell. I look forward to the movie.
Now, hopefully, the powers-that-be at Showtime or wherever realize the value of bringing back Queer as Folk. I love, love, love that show and watch it every night on LOGO. That is the best show in telling relationships, emotion, love, and pain. It definitely left viewers after 5 years with wanting more. The actors, producers, writers, did themselves proud! If there were a write-in campaign, I'd be there!!
Ack!

No! Please, no!
Queer as Folk.............
really didn't do much for me. Maybe it's my age showing but it made me feel like a prude. Maybe if I were buff and pretty life would be a hunk-buffet for me too.
See, there's that green-eyed monster again.
Don't trouble yourself Doctor -- I'm a celebrity, I'll write my own prescription.
This is the best show ever
3rd season

[/quote]Love this show!!
I accidentally stumbled across this show late one night during a LOGO marathon and I have been hooked ever since. I adore the characters. I was hoping they would eventually let us know what happened after the season finale accident and now here we are . . . a movie!! I'm thrilled. I thought this show was daring and innovative using a black cast! I am a black woman and I fell in love with Noah instantly and I would hang out with Alex any day of the week!! He is off the hook!! I know these men are gay but that doesn't stop me from drooling over these fine black men . . . especially Trey!! Whooo hooo!! LOL I can only hope the movie makes it to my part of town but I would definitely travel to see it.
Oh, and I LOOOVE Queer as Folk!! I watched it from day one. The relationships in that show were so true to life it surpassed gender and race. You didn't look at them as "gay men" but rather as PEOPLE in everyday relationships. I still watch the reruns on LOGO every night. Maybe they'll come out with a movie too!! Hmmmm . . .
