Jack and Ianto's "Torchwood" smoochery wins NewNowNext Award for "Best Kiss"
That's right, folks: You voted, and decided that Captain Jack (John Barrowman) and Ianto Jones (Gareth David-Lloyd) gave us the hottest lip-locks of the year as on-again, off-again lovers and Torchwood colleagues. (Given the nature of their working relationship, does that mean that Ianto always has to clean up the office after? Ruuuuude...) If you didn't catch the kissing action in question, I've posted the clip after the break of their most recent smooch. "Cheats. He always cheats."
That has got to be one of the funniest lines of the year. I mean, we're used to Jack's lines like the setup here: "We could have used you an hour ago for Naked Hide'n'Seek." But we're so used to the strait laces of All-Business Ianto that his follow-up line (referenced in the subject above) is unexpected. And hilarious.
Good on you, boys, for your well-deserved win. (Though, I must say, it was a tough category.) Now, where can I find a montage of Janto kisses?

I love Jack and Ianto
I love Jack and Ianto together but I have to say I really liked the Jack and Captain John kiss more. The directing of that kiss scene was brilliant on so many levels. In theater one of the first things I learned was doing crosses while on stage. Two actors won't cross directly to each other unless the scene there is sexual tension or violent tension. The cameria angels in kiss, kiss bang bang allowed the audience to see them walk directly to each other, which was perfect for embodying both forms of tension, it seemed violent and sexual at the same time. Are they going to kiss or fight? That was a great directorial choice.
When they grabbed each other and kissed, it was also wonderfully acted, it was rough, deperate, electric. Then the fact that they had that TV befind them showing fire was perfect. Something like that could be cheasy, but it worked with this scene, symbolically saying this is hot, raw, passioante, and dangerious. It was another wonderful choice in this scene.
All these elements made it one the bests kisses on screne kisses I've even seen. It was just very well planned and executed, adn so much thought was put into every aspect.
However, I also loved the Jack and Ianto kiss. It was a different dynamic, it was Ianto saying I love you. The directing and acting there was also great, but I just think that cynimatically and artisitically the kiss between Jack and John was somehow more. I don't want to say better, but I don't know, just more.
I have to agree -- Jack and
Jack and Ianto....
....are fine...really...but the Jack and Real Jack kiss (the whole episode) was so much better. None of the other shows have brought me close to crying, but "Captain Jack Harkness" episode was the best. Never mind the plot holes and lack of realism at certain points- it was still the most romantic gay moment I've ever seen on TV. That kiss...I totally believed in. Deep, passionate, spit swapping.
I say we take the warning labels off everything and let nature take it's course.
