James O'Shea and Philipp Karner
The new gay wedding comedy Kiss the Bride premiered in Los Angeles, and most of the movie's stars (no Tori Spelling, as I think she's busy cooking up a little one) hit the red carpet along with some other interesting folks. Here are a few choice snaps (courtesy of Getty Images):

No Kiss per Nuke-less?
Just curious since James and Phillip are in a gay comedy film if they kissed for the audience while on the red carpet? Or were they prevented by TPTB as in Nuke-less?
Whether they are gay or not, it would have sent a message that not ALL actors are forbidden by their bosses to display such affection between two men. Since this is just a film and not TV, why the hell not?
Reality vs. Fiction
I admit I want to see Nuke canoodling as much as the next guy, but the whole idea of people being upset that Van and Jake didn't kiss on the red carpet at the GLAAD media awards strikes me as completely ridiculous.
Luke Snyder and Noah Mayer are gay, Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann may or may not be. Luke Snyder and Noah Mayer are a couple, Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann are not. And most importantly, Luke Snyder and Noah Mayer are fictional, Van Hansis and Jake Silbermann are not. Why would anyone think there was any possibility that they would kiss on the red carpet to begin with? No one was surprised when Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhall didn't kiss at the Oscars.
And the fact that Van and Jake had to take time out of their day to release a statement explaining to people that they are not their characters, and attended the event as the real-life actual people they are and not their characters (which IMHO would have been distrubingly strange) leaves me non-plussed.
Reality Kisses
I agree with everything you wrote. But Van and Jake were at a GAY media award ceremony, where straight actors have kissed in the past. It isn't insulting to ask them to kiss for the camera. And they have a right to refuse without explaining why.
The controversy was over the alegation that someone at ATWT had forbid them from kissing in public even if they wanted too. Which would seem opressive if it were true. Jake and Van relesed a statement to dispell any belief that their bosses were contoling their private, or in this case public, lives.
