Logo unveils new gay basketball reality show, Rockdogs

Here's some great news for you gay sports fans: Logo has announced a new reality show that follows the San Francisco Rock Dogs, a Gay Games gold-medal-winning basketball team.

The show (Rockdogs is the working title) will follow the 12 gay ballers as they share a roof and work toward getting the team back into shape for a big competition. Considering the show is about gay athletes and also that the team is primarily composed of African-American players, Rockdogs looks to be a much-needed shot in the arm for diversity in gay television.

The show will premiere next summer. In the meantime, check out these shots from the team's 2007 calendar, taken by photographer Nicolas Smith. (Note that the calendar and pictured lineup from 2006 do not necessarily reflect the players that will be on the show.)

Logo also announced a new Bachelorette-style dating show called Transamerican Love Story, in which 12 guys vie for the affections of a trangender woman. The twist? For once, there is none, as all the suitors are aware of the lady's transgender status from the get-go. Wait, you mean they aren't going to use transgender sexuality to scare straight guys on-camera? Say it ain't so!

The show will be hosted by gay comedian Alec Mapa (Ugly Betty) and is produced by the scamps at World of Wonder, who were behind the wonderful Trans Generation series.

Yes!  This is great.  I only hope they cover the Rockdogs in a professional manner and not as jokes or gay men trying to be straight.
